چکیده

In this paper, we present a Medical Image Visualizer (MIV) targeting cardiac SPECT images. The visualizer is built fully on open source image processing and visualization software. The main features of the visualizer are: a semiautomatic procedure for segmenting challenging cardiac images and an implementation of the polar map visualization (Bull’s eye diagram) that follows recent recommendations from the American Heart Association (AHA). The features mentioned above and the architecture design of the software make MIV a valuable research tool for the analysis of cardiac SPECT studies. Co-registration of cardiac MRI and rest gated SPECT in the assessment of myocardial perfusion, function and viability.

PURPOSE Myocardial perfusion is routinely measured by SPECT--this technique has a rather low spatial resolution but covers the whole myocardium and is equipped with efficient image analysis software. Cardiac MRI has higher spatial resolution than SPECT and excellent sequences for myocardial function and viability detection but the lack of easy-to-use methods of acquisition and post-processing o...

Selective Cathepsin S Inhibition with MIV-247 Attenuates Mechanical Allodynia and Enhances the Antiallodynic Effects of Gabapentin and Pregabalin in a Mouse Model of Neuropathic Pain.

Cathepsin S inhibitors attenuate mechanical allodynia in preclinical neuropathic pain models. The current study evaluated the effects when combining the selective cathepsin S inhibitor MIV-247 with gabapentin or pregabalin in a mouse model of neuropathic pain. Mice were rendered neuropathic by partial sciatic nerve ligation. MIV-247, gabapentin, or pregabalin were administered alone or in combi...

An Antiretroviral/Zinc Combination Gel Provides 24 Hours of Complete Protection against Vaginal SHIV Infection in Macaques

BACKGROUND Repeated use, coitus-independent microbicide gels that do not contain antiretroviral agents also used as first line HIV therapy are urgently needed to curb HIV spread. Current formulations require high doses (millimolar range) of antiretroviral drugs and typically only provide short-term protection in macaques. We used the macaque model to test the efficacy of a novel combination mic...

Prime-boost interval matters: a randomized phase 1 study to identify the minimum interval necessary to observe the H5 DNA influenza vaccine priming effect.

BACKGROUND H5 DNA priming was previously shown to improve the antibody response to influenza A(H5N1) monovalent inactivated vaccine (MIV) among individuals for whom there was a 24-week interval between prime and boost receipt. This study defines the shortest prime-boost interval associated with an improved response to MIV. METHODS We administered H5 DNA followed by MIV at intervals of 4, 8, 1...

Exposure to MIV-150 from a High-Dose Intravaginal Ring Results in Limited Emergence of Drug Resistance Mutations in SHIV-RT Infected Rhesus Macaques

When microbicides used for HIV prevention contain antiretroviral drugs, there is concern for the potential emergence of drug-resistant HIV following use in infected individuals who are either unaware of their HIV infection status or who are aware but still choose to use the microbicide. Resistant virus could ultimately impact their responsiveness to treatment and/or result in subsequent transmi...
