Whole-plane self-avoiding walks and radial Schramm-Loewner evolution: a numerical study
نویسنده
چکیده
We numerically test the correspondence between the scaling limit of self-avoiding walks (SAW) in the plane and Schramm-Loewner evolution (SLE) with κ = 8/3. We introduce a discrete-time process approximating SLE in the exterior of the unit disc and compare the distribution functions for an internal point in the SAW and a point at a fixed fractal variation on the SLE, finding good agreement. This provides numerical evidence in favor of a conjecture by Lawler, Schramm and Werner. The algorithm turns out to be an efficient way of computing the position of an internal point in the SAW.

Introduction to Schramm-Loewner evolution and its application to critical systems
In this short review we look at recent advances in Schramm-Loewner Evolution (SLE) theory and its application to critical phenomena. The application of SLE goes beyond critical systems to other time dependent, scale invariant phenomena such as turbulence, sand-piles and watersheds. Through the use of SLE, the evolution of conformally invariant paths on the complex plane can be followed; hence a...
متن کاملCompressed self-avoiding walks, bridges and polygons
We study various self-avoiding walks (SAWs) which are constrained to lie in the upper half-plane and are subjected to a compressive force. This force is applied to the vertex or vertices of the walk located at the maximum distance above the boundary of the half-space. In the case of bridges, this is the unique end-point. In the case of SAWs or self-avoiding polygons, this corresponds to all ver...
متن کاملConformal Invariance and Stochastic Loewner Evolution Predictions for the 2D Self-Avoiding Walk - Monte Carlo Tests
Simulations of the self-avoiding walk (SAW) are performed in a half-plane and a cutplane (the complex plane with the positive real axis removed) using the pivot algorithm. We test the conjecture of Lawler, Schramm and Werner that the scaling limit of the two-dimensional SAW is given by Schramm’s Stochastic Loewner Evolution (SLE). The agreement is found to be excellent. The simulations also tes...
متن کاملBoundary Behavior of Sle
Introduction. Several lattice models from statistical physics such as random walks (RWs), loop-erased random walks (LERWs), self-avoiding random walks (SAWs), and critical FK (Fortuin and Kasteleyn) percolations have been shown or are conjectured to be invariant under conformal mappings. The stochastic Loewner evolution (SLE) was first introduced by O. Schramm as a possible scaling limit for th...
متن کاملValues of Brownian intersection exponents II: Plane exponents
We derive the exact value of intersection exponents between planar Brownian motions or random walks, confirming predictions from theoretical physics by Duplantier and Kwon. Let B and B′ be independent Brownian motions (or simple random walks) in the plane, started from distinct points. We prove that the probability that the paths B[0, t] and B′[0, t] do not intersect decays like t−5/8. More pre...
