Photoemission Study of the Intra-unit-cell Coupling in a Trilayer Cuprate
نویسنده
چکیده
The electronic structures of the nearly optimally doped single-layer, bilayer and trilayer Bi-based cuprates are investigated by angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy. A lineshape analysis of data taken for different photon energies indicates that the interlayer coupling within the trilayer is not stronger than its counterpart in the bilayer system. This suggests that the higher Tc of the trilayer cuprate superconductors is not due to an enhancement of the coupling strength between the neighboring CuO2 planes within each unit cell.

Electronic structure of the trilayer cuprate superconductor Bi(2)Sr(2)Ca(2)Cu(3)O(10+delta).
The low-energy electronic structure of the nearly optimally doped trilayer cuprate superconductor Bi(2)Sr(2)Ca(2)Cu(3)O(10+delta) is investigated by angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy. The normal state quasiparticle dispersion and Fermi surface and the superconducting d-wave gap and coherence peak are observed and compared with those of single- and bilayer systems. We find that both the ...

The proximity effect in a model manganite-cuprate system is investigated theoretically. We consider a situation in which spin-polarized electrons in manganite layers antiferromagnetically couple with electrons in cuprate layers as observed experimentally. The effect of the interfacial magnetic coupling is found to be much stronger than the injection of spin-polarized electrons into the cuprate ...
متن کاملEnhanced superconducting gaps in the trilayer high-temperature Bi2Sr2Ca2Cu3O(10+δ) cuprate superconductor.
We report the first observation of the multilayer band splitting in the optimally doped trilayer cuprate Bi2Sr2Ca2Cu3O(10+δ) (Bi2223) by angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy. The observed energy bands and Fermi surfaces are originated from the outer and inner CuO2 planes (OP and IP). The OP band is overdoped with a large d-wave gap around the node of Δ0∼43 meV while the IP is underdoped w...
متن کاملTopological defects coupling smectic modulations to intra-unit-cell nematicity in cuprates.
We study the coexisting smectic modulations and intra-unit-cell nematicity in the pseudogap states of underdoped Bi(2)Sr(2)CaCu(2)O(8+δ). By visualizing their spatial components separately, we identified 2π topological defects throughout the phase-fluctuating smectic states. Imaging the locations of large numbers of these topological defects simultaneously with the fluctuations in the intra-uni...
متن کاملAngle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy of electron-doped cuprate superconductors: isotropic electron-phonon coupling.
We have performed high resolution angle-resolved photoemission (ARPES) studies on electron-doped cuprate superconductors Sm2-xCexCuO4 (x=0.10, 0.15, 0.18), Nd2-xCexCuO4 (x=0.15), and Eu2-xCexCuO4 (x=0.15). Imaginary parts of the electron removal self energy show steplike features due to an electron-bosonic mode coupling. The steplike feature is seen along both nodal and antinodal directions but...
