3D Modelling with Vision Based Interaction in Semi-Immersive Enviroments

چکیده
We have developed a 3D modelling system that can provide a stereo visualization in a back-projection screen environment. It takes a wireless interaction with user’s head and hand supported by a Vision Tracking System. Our model representation is based on the MeshLibrary, which is optimized for real-time rendering and can accommodate for changes of both vertex positions and mesh connectivity. Thus our modeller allows a user to manipulate and deform the meshes in a reliable and robust way. The mesh is controlled by tracking and recognizing the hand gestures, which enables natural and intuitive interaction without a particular hand-held interface. The user’s eye positions are approximated by head tracking and are used to render a optimal stereo view of the 3D mesh models at any given moment. This paper describes the infrastructure to construct a semi-immersive interactive environment, and it gives an overview of the hand gesture based 3D modelling system.

3D Modelling of Under Ground Burried Objects Based on Ground Penetration Radar
There is a growing demand for mapping and 3D modelling of buried objects such as pipelines, agricultural hetitage, landmines and other buried objects. Usually, large scale and high resolution maps from these objects are needed. Manually map generation and modeling of these objects are cost and time consuming and is dependent on lots of resources. Therefore, automating the subsurface mapping and...

With the rapid emergence of 3D applications and virtual environments in computer systems; the need for a new type of interaction device arises. This is because the traditional devices such as mouse, keyboard, and joystick become inefficient and cumbersome within these virtual environments. In other words, evolution of user interfaces shapes the change in the Human-Computer Interaction (HCI). In...

متن کاملA Cost-Effective 3D Interaction Approach for Immersive Virtual Reality
One of the main factors that has impeded the proliferation of immersive virtual reality systems in mainstream society has been the price involved in setting up such systems. This paper presents the design of an inexpensive 6 degree-of-freedom optical tracking approach which is suitable for 3D interaction in an immersive headmounted display virtual reality system, along with various design issue...
متن کاملUtilization of Human Scale SPIDAR-G in the framework of Assistance to 3D interaction in a semi-immersive AR/VR platform
We have developed a generic assistance paradigm to 3D interaction that uses virtual guides to constrain the output of classical 3D interaction techniques, in order to satisfy the requirements of particular applications. In this article, we present this paradigm and its application to three different projects, dealing with robot teleoperation (constraints over precision and security), complex mo...
