Although is conventional care has been exemplary, his quality of life is acking, and he is plagued by persistent cough, limitation of his hysical activities, poor sleep, and adverse effects of his mainteance medications. His response to integrative management and ostural restoration using the Postural Restoration Institute PRI) manual and nonmanual techniques and the reestablishent of a “zone of apposition” with improved diaphragm mehanics has been remarkably effective. Asthma has many levels of severity and affects all age groups. ubstantial strides have been made in asthma management, yet t continues to plague millions and adversely affect their daily unction. It is a common reason for office visits, emergent outatient treatment, hospitalization, and untimely death. Conventional management of asthma is extensively cataloged n the literature and currently includes the use of 2 agonists, ystemic and inhaled steroids, leukotriene modifiers, and most ecently IgE-binding inhibitors. Status is monitored with subective symptoms and peak flows and frequency of office visits, mergent visits, and hospitalizations. An integrative medicine pproach to asthma often includes nutritional manipulation and upplementation, botanicals, acupuncture, and mind-body echniques such as self-hypnosis, relaxation techniques, and uteyko breathing. The use of manual therapy techniques inluding chiropractic and osteopathic manipulation and postural ealignment strategies can also be helpful in many cases
