Loss of skeletal calcium by patients on maintenance dialysis.

چکیده
Direct radiological measurements of the mineral content of femoral bone were performed in 13 patients on maintenance dialysis. They were found to be sufficiently sensitive to be used for monitoring, and it is suggested that the technique gives more information than do calcium-balance studies.

Changes in skeletal muscle microcirculation after a hemodialysis session correlates with adequacy of dialysis
BACKGROUND Monitoring of the microcirculation may add additional information in terms of improving the adequacy of hemodialysis (HD) for patients. Withdrawal of liquid and complement activation during a HD session reduces the external pressure on the microcirculation and leads to an increased dilatation of the peripheral capillaries. The purposes of this study were to assess the effect of a sin...

Introduction. Chronic renal failure is a progressive disease in which kidney function is impaired, so that the body can not metabolize and maintain fluid balance and electrolytes. thus, recent study evaluated the effect of 8 weeks aerobic training on some electrolytic indices in dialysis patients. Materials and Methods. The subjects of this study were Imam Jafar Sadegh Hospital of dialysis pa...
متن کاملAssessment of hemodialysis adequacy in patients undergoing maintenance maneuver by laboratory tests
Background and Objectives: Hemodialysis (HD) is one of the therapeutic modalities patients. Since inadequate dialysis increases mortality and morbidity of patients, therefore, assessment of dialysis adequacy is clinically important. For this reason, hemodialysis adequacy was determined in patients underg...
متن کاملCOMPREHENSIVE STUDY OF SOME PLASMA BIOCHEMICAL PARAMETERS IN RELATIONTO BONE DISEASE IN HEMODIALYSIS PATIENTS IN ISFAHAN
The concentrations of serum calcitonin', parathormone (PTH), amylase, alkaline phosphatase (ALKP), calcium and phosphorus were studied in pre-and post-dialysis patients with chronic renal failure. All patients had extremely elevated serum urea and creatinine concentrations with the mean values of143.8 and 10.5 mg/dL respectively. The plasma amylase activity was higher than normal with a me...
متن کاملConsidering technique of assessment and method for normalizing skeletal muscle mass
Sarcopenia is defined as loss of skeletal muscle mass accompanied by a reduction in muscle strength or physical performance, may be more severe among elderly individuals and patients with chronic disease such as those with chronic kidney disease (CKD). There is no consensus regarding operational criteria for sarcopenia in patients with advanced pre-dialysis CKD or maintenance hemodialysis. Kitt...
