چکیده

Background Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy is a common cardiovascular genetic disease characterized by sarcomeric gene mutations which lead to findings of cardiac hypertrophy, myocyte disarray, and fibrosis. While late gadolinium enhancement (LGE) cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) detects focal, macroscopic regions of replacement fibrosis non-invasively, novel T1 CMR measurement techniques including extracellular volume fraction (ECV) diffuse interstitial fibrosis throughout the myocardium. Plasma B-type natriuretic peptide levels are often elevated in situations of increased wall tension and volume overload. Given that such states may be associated with myocardial fibrosis, and because BNP levels provide independent prognostic insight in HCM, we sought to determine the association between BNP and ECV measurement by CMR.

Comparative assessment of N-terminal pro-B-type natriuretic peptide, nitric oxide and echocardiography for diagnosis of dilated cardiomyopathy in dogs

The aim of the study was to evaluate the clinical usefulness of N-terminal pro-brain natriuretic peptide (NT-Pro BNP) and nitric oxide (NO) with echocardiography (gold standard test) in diagnosis of canine cardiomyopathy. Out of 374 cases, 82 cases showing cardiovascular abnormalities including 16 cases of cardiomyopathy were further selected for standardization of biomarkers. Significant (P

Clinical and Biochemical Assessments of Circulating B-Type Natriuretic Peptide as a Useful Marker in Pediatric Cardiac Patients

Background Although the left ventricle is the major site of BNP secretion in response to cardiac pressure or volume overload, the myocytes of both atria and ventricles secrete B- type natriuretic peptide (BNP). This study aimed to assess and compare the plasma levels of BNP in common pediatric cardiac diseases to clarify its pathophysiological role and evaluate its po...

Determinants and clinical significance of natriuretic peptides and hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.

AIMS Atrial and brain natriuretic peptide levels closely reflect impaired left ventricular function in patients with heart failure. In the present study we assessed the determinants and the clinical significance of atrial and brain natriuretic peptide plasma levels in hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. METHODS AND RESULTS In 44 patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (40+/-15 years) we evaluated:...

Comparison between Brain Natriuretic Peptide and Calcitonin Gene Related Peptide in Children with Dilated Cardiomyopathy

Background: Dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM) is revealed with the left ventricular dilatation and systolic dysfunction. This study was performed to determine the level of Calcitonin Gene Related Peptide (CGRP) and Brain Natriuretic Peptide (BNP) in children with dilated cardiomyopathy and controls and comparison of these two biomarkers in patients. Materials and Methods: This case-control study was...

Relationship between Myocardial Extracellular Space Expansion Estimated with Post-Contrast T1 Mapping MRI and Left Ventricular Remodeling and Neurohormonal Activation in Patients with Dilated Cardiomyopathy

OBJECTIVE Post-contrast T1 values are closely related to the degree of myocardial extracellular space expansion. We determined the relationship between post-contrast T1 values and left ventricular (LV) diastolic function, LV remodeling, and neurohormonal activation in patients with dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM). MATERIALS AND METHODS Fifty-nine patients with DCM (mean age, 55 ± 15 years; 41 ma...
