Pulmonary Arteriovenous Fistula by Contrast-Transthoracic Echocardiography- A Case Report

چکیده
Contrast echocardiography with harmonic imaging and contrast injection has improved the accuracy and reproducibility compared to imaging without contrast. Therefore, while evaluation of capillary free communications between pulmonary and systemic circulation is deemed important, assessment after contrast injection should be the preferred approach. We report a case of 60 years old male with alcoholic liver cirrhosis and pulmonary arteriovenous fistula diagnosed by contrast echocardiography. This revealed delayed appearance of contrast 4-5 cardiac cycles with large numbers and the same density of micro-bubbles in all four chambers after 10 cardiac cycles, and when the injection was stopped, there were micro-bubbles in the left cardiac chambers meanwhile none in the right cardiac chambers.

Diffuse Pulmonary Arteriovenous Malformation in Children: Essential Value of Contrast Echocardiography in Diagnosis
Pulmonary arteriovenous malformations (PAVM) are abnormal communications between pulmonary arteries and pulmonary veins, and most commonly congenital in nature. Although rare, it is an important consideration in cyanotic patients of unknown cause. We report 3 cases with diffuse PAVM in children with different clinical manifestations and initial diagnosis was made by transthoracic contrast echoc...
متن کاملSevere refractory hypoxemia following a gunshot injury.
We describe the case of a 57-year-old man with severe refractory hypoxemia, despite receiving ventilation therapy with 100% oxygen, following a gunshot wound to his left chest. A limited CT scan of the chest with contrast raised the suspicion of an arteriovenous (AV) fistula. Contrast-enhanced transthoracic echocardiography confirmed the presence of a pulmonary AV fistula. Traumatic pulmonary A...
متن کاملAsymptomatic Right Coronary Artery-to-Pulmonary Artery Fistula Incidentally Detected by Transthoracic Echocardiography.
In this case report, we describe a 71-year-old woman with right conal coronary artery-to-pulmonary trunk fistula. She visited the outpatient clinic of the nephrology department for long-term management of renal dysfunction. On transthoracic echocardiography (TTE) conducted as a part of cardiac evaluation, an abnormal Doppler color flow taking a course toward echocardiographic probe was incident...
متن کاملTwo-dimensional contrast echocardiography in pulmonary arteriovenous fistula.
Definitive clinical diagnosis of congenital pulmonary arteriovenous fistula is extremely difficult. In order to evaluate the diagnostic value of echocardiography, 2 cases with suspected pulmonary arteriovenous fistula were studied. In the first case, there was a solitary pulmonary arteriovenous fistula, while in the second multiple minute pulmonary arteriovenous fistulas were illustrated. The s...
متن کاملCan Echocardiography, Especially Tricuspid Annular Plane Systolic Excursion Measurement, Predict Pulmonary Hypertension and Improve Prognosis in Patients on Long-Term Dialysis?
In recent years, increasing attention has been paid to pulmonary hypertension (PH) as a strong and independent risk factor for adverse outcome in the population of patients on long-term dialysis. Published results of observational studies indicate that the problem of PH refers mostly to patients on long-term hemodialysis and is less common in peritoneal dialysis patients. The main cause of this...
