An Elementary Core Equivalence Theorem in a Countable Economy
نویسنده
چکیده
We consider an infinite exchange economy with countable many traders, which can be regarded as a natural extension of finite exchange economies to an infinite one. In our countable economy the core defined in the traditional manner would be empty. To avoid this unwanted situation we have to strengthen the notion of “improves upon”. We will achieve this based on the idea that forming coalitions involve costs.

The classical Debreu-Scarf core equivalence theorem asserts that in an exchange economy with a finite number of agents art allocation (under certain conditions) is a Walrasian equilibrium if and only if it belongs to the core of every replica of the exchange economy. The pioneering work of P. Samuelson has shown that such a result fails to be true in exchange economies with a countable number o...

We reconsider the core equivalence theorem for a pure exchange economy under uncertainty from a rough set theoretical point of view in data mining; the traders are assumed to have a multi-modal logic of belief and to make their decision under uncertainty represented by rough sets. We propose a generalized notion of rational expectations equilibrium, called expecta, tion equilibrium in belief for...

In 1983 L. E. Jones exhibited a surprising example of a weakly Pareto optimal al location in a two consumer pure exchange economy that failed to be supported by prices. In this example the price space is not a vector lattice (Riesz space). Inspired by Jones' example, A. Mas-Colell and S. F. Richard proved that this pathological phenomenon cannot happen when the price space is a vector lattice....

Weiss (1981) established core equivalence and the existence of competitive equilibria in finitely additive exchange economies. To underline the relevance of finitely additive economies we present in this note an example with a close connection to finite exchange economies. JEL Classification Number: D51.
متن کاملA Note on Aumann’s Core Equivalence Theorem without Monotonicity∗
In an exchange economy with a continuum of traders, we establish the equivalence theorem on the core and the set of competitive allocations without assuming monotonicity of traders’ preferences. Under weak assumptions we provide two alternative core equivalence theorems. The first one is for irreducible economies under Debreu’s assumption on quasi-equilibria. The second one is an extension of A...
