Parameter ranking by orthogonalization - Applied to nonlinear mechanistic models
نویسندگان
چکیده
The paper addresses methods for parameter sensitivity analysis in a large, nonlinear, mechanistic model which is to be run in an online estimation scheme. The parameter sensitivity has been obtained by numeric approximation. The paper proposes and applies successive orthogonalization of the sensitivity derivative for parameter ranking. The method is easy to implement and the results are easily interpreted. Orthogonalization of the sensitivity matrix gives a triangular form of the squared sensitivity. The paper shows how the triangular form of the sensitivity derivative gives a particularly easy form of the variance contribution of individual parameters, provided the model error can be assumed Gaussian. This information has been used to decide how many parameters from the ranked set are to be selected for on-line estimation. 2007 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

Recently, Farzipoor Saen [Journal of the Operational Research Society, 60(11), 1575–1582 (2009)] proposed a method based on data envelopment analysis to identify optimistic efficient suppliers in the presence of nondiscretionary factors-imprecise data. متن کاملOrthogonalization of Regressors in fMRI Models
The occurrence of collinearity in fMRI-based GLMs (general linear models) may reduce power or produce unreliable parameter estimates. It is commonly believed that orthogonalizing collinear regressors in the model will solve this problem, and some software packages apply automatic orthogonalization. However, the effects of orthogonalization on the interpretation of the resulting parameter estima...
متن کاملOn Orthogonalization Approach to Construct a Multiple Input Transfer Function Model
In this article, a special type of orthogonalization is obtained to construct a multiple input transfer function model. By using this technique, construction of a transfer function model is divided to sequential construction of transfer function models with less input time series. Furthermore, based on real and simulated time series we provide an instruction to adequately perform the stages of ...

Detecting critical power system events for Dynamic Security Assessment (DSA) is required for reliability improvement. The approach proposed in this paper investigates the effects of events on dynamic behavior during nonlinear system response while common approaches use steady-state conditions after events. This paper presents some new and enhanced indices for event ranking based on time-domain ...
