چکیده

Premature ventricular contractions (PVCs) are early depolarizations of the myocardium originating in the ventricle. They are often seen in association with structural heart disease and represent increased risk of sudden death,1 yet they are ubiquitous, even in the absence of identifiable heart disease.1,2 They may cause troubling and sometimes incapacitating symptoms such as palpitations, chest pain, presyncope, syncope, and heart failure.3 Traditionally, they have been thought to be relatively benign in the absence of structural heart disease.4,5 Over the last decade, however, PVC-induced cardiomyopathy has been a subject of great interest and the evidence for this entity is rapidly emerging.

Association between cytokines and two circulating micro-RNAs and development of premature ventricular contractions-induced cardiomyopathy

Objective(s): Recent progress in understanding the pathogenesis of premature ventricular contraction (PVC)-induced cardiomyopathy (PIC) has suggested a key role for inflammation. The aim of this study was to evaluate the expression of messenger RNAs (mRNAs) and the protein production of interleukin-6 (IL-6), IL-10, tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-α) and interferon-γ (...

Premature Ventricular Contraction-Induced Systolic Heart Failure: A Treatable Condition

Several clinical predictors of VPD-induced cardiomyopathy and HF have been identified. Classically, a high VPD burden of more than 24% has been associated with impaired LVEF and HF [13]. A longitudinal study found subclinical deterioration in LVEF over 5 years in those with a high burden of VPDs (≥ 10-20%) [14]. Despite the absence of a definitive and clear cutoff, the risk of developing NICM a...

Arrhythmia induced cardiomyopathy secondary to atrial fibrillation: an easy condition to recognise and treat?

Arrhythmia induced cardiomyopathy is a condition characterised by either a tachyarrhythmia (also known as a tachycardia induced cardiomyopathy or tachycardiomyopathy) or frequent ventricular ectopy (also known as ectopy induced cardiomyopathy) that results in left ventricular dysfunction and heart failure. In addition, the dysfunction is partially or completely reversible once control of the ta...

A case of cardiomyopathy induced by premature ventricular complexes.

Tachycardia-induced cardiomyopathy is a well-known and reversible condition, but the left ventricular dysfunction caused by frequent isolated premature ventricular complexes (PVCs) has been rarely reported. Apparent dilated cardiomyopathy was resolved in a patient after the focal source of PVCs was eliminated by radiofrequency catheter ablation. Echocardiography showed progressive improvement o...
