MRI-PHY-971217 Probing Hg contact interactions by gg → H at a high energy hadron collider
نویسنده
چکیده
Abstarct In this article we study the effect of Hg contact interactions on H production by gluon fusion at a hadron collider. Two such d=6 operators have been considered. The present precision for measuring αs implies that the lower bound on the scale for the CP even operator O1 must be around 2 TeV. Whereas the precision for measuring dn gives rise to a lower bound of about 10 TeV on the scale for the CP odd operator O2. We show that for the above lower bound O1 can significantly affect the parton level cross-section for the process gg → H.

Tagging two-photon production at the CERN Large Hadron Collider
Tagging two-photon interactions offers a significant extension of the CERN LHC physics program. The effective luminosity of high-energy gg collisions reaches 1% of the proton-proton luminosity. The standard detector techniques used for measuring very forward proton scattering will allow a reliable separation of interesting two-photon interactions. Particularly exciting is the possibility of det...
متن کاملLHC Physics Potential vs . Energy
Parton luminosities are convenient for estimating how the physics potential of Large Hadron Collider experiments depends on the energy of the proton beams. I present parton luminosities, ratios of parton luminosities, and contours of fixed parton luminosity for gg, ud̄, and qq interactions over the energy range relevant to the Large Hadron Collider, along with example analyses for specific proce...

This report summarizes a study of the physics potential of the CLIC e+e− linear collider operating at centre-of-mass energies from 1 TeV to 5 TeV with luminosity of the order of 1035 cm−2 s−1. First, the CLIC collider complex is surveyed, with emphasis on aspects related to its physics capabilities, particularly the luminosity and energy, and also possible polarization, γγ and e−e− collisions. ...
متن کاملConstraints on qq̄γγ Contact Interactions at Future Hadron Colliders
We explore the capability of the Tevatron and LHC as well as other future hadron colliders to place limits on the possible existence of flavor-independent qq̄γγ contact interactions which can lead to an excess of high pt diphoton events with large invariant masses. Constraints on the corresponding eeγγ contact interaction already exist from LEP. In the case of hadron colliders, strong constraint...
متن کاملLHC Physics Potential vs . Energy : Considerations for the 2011 Run
Parton luminosities are convenient for estimating how the physics potential of Large Hadron Collider experiments depends on the energy of the proton beams. I quantify the advantage of increasing the beam energy from 3.5 TeV to 4 TeV. I present parton luminosities, ratios of parton luminosities, and contours of fixed parton luminosity for gg, ud̄, qq, and gq interactions over the energy range rel...
