Cerebral Ventricular Volumetry in Pediatric Neuroimaging
نویسندگان
چکیده
A prospective NIH funded study examines the effects of early brain damage on selective aspects of cognitive development in children. We describe an efficient method to segment and visualize the intracerebral fluid spaces in children and adults based on MRI and to quantify ventricular volumes which is (a) robust (for normal and pathological anatomy), (b) reproducible (less than 2 % relative variation), and (c) fast (less than 5 min for image analysis).

Echocardiographic volumetry of the right ventricle.
AIMS The aim of our study was to define the optimal geometric model for two-dimensional volumetry of the right ventricle and its clinical validation. METHODS AND RESULTS It has been shown in previous reports that an ellipsoidal shell model best reflects the complex right ventricular geometry. We investigated 82 patients without tricuspid regurgitation and intracardiac shunt. Measurements of r...
متن کاملPerformance of Hippocampus Volumetry with FSL-FIRST for Prediction of Alzheimer's Disease Dementia in at Risk Subjects with Amnestic Mild Cognitive Impairment.
MRI-based hippocampus volume, a core feasible biomarker of Alzheimer's disease (AD), is not yet widely used in clinical patient care, partly due to lack of validation of software tools for hippocampal volumetry that are compatible with routine workflow. Here, we evaluate fully-automated and computationally efficient hippocampal volumetry with FSL-FIRST for prediction of AD dementia (ADD) in sub...
متن کاملSex-specific pediatric percentiles for ventricular size and mass as reference values for cardiac MRI: assessment by steady-state free-precession and phase-contrast MRI flow.
BACKGROUND Cardiac MRI is important in the treatment of children with congenital heart disease, but sufficient normative data are lacking. For ventricular volumes and mass, we sought to deliver reference centiles and to investigate sex effects. METHODS AND RESULTS We included 114 healthy children and adolescents, uniformly distributed spanning an age range of 4 to 20 years, as required by the...
متن کاملNeuroradiologic findings in polyarteritis nodosa.
PURPOSE To demonstrate the neuroradiologic findings in patients with polyarteritis nodosa. METHODS A review of hospital records for a 10-year period revealed 50 patients with a discharge diagnosis of polyarteritis nodosa. Thirteen patients had undergone neuroimaging, and abnormal findings were found in 5 cases; these were the subjects of this study. RESULTS All 5 patients had abnormal findi...
متن کاملProblematic Internet use is associated with structural alterations in the brain reward system in females Internet addiction and the brain reward system
Neuroimaging findings suggest that excessive Internet use shows functional and structural brain changes similar to substance addiction. Even though it is still under debate whether there are gender differences in case of problematic use, previous studies by-passed this question by focusing on males only or by using gender matched approach without controlling for potential gender effects. We des...
