Energy-Efficient Quantization and Resource Allocation for TDMA with Finite Rate Feedback
نویسندگان
چکیده
We deal with energy efficient time-division multiple access (TDMA) over fading channels with finite-rate feedback for use in the power-limited regime. Through finite-rate feedback from the access point, users acquire quantized channel state information. The goal is to map channel quantization states to adaptive modulation and coding modes and allocate optimally time slots to users so that the total average transmit-power is minimized. To this end, we develop a joint quantization and resource allocation approach, which decouples the complicated problem at hand into three minimization sub-problems and relies on a coordinate descent approach to iteratively effect energy efficiency. A sub-optimal yet simplified alternative algorithm which decouples the original problem into two sub-problems is also presented. Numerical results are presented to evaluate the energy savings and compare the novel approaches.

Resource allocation for fading multiple-access channels with partial channel state information
Dynamic resource allocation based on the current channel state is a promising strategy to increase the capacity of wireless links. In this paper, the optimum accessing and resource allocation scheme for fading multiple–access channels with partial CSI at the transmitters are found. Partial knowledge of the fading states is a reasonable assumption for systems which provide a low rate feedback ch...
متن کاملEnergy-Efficient Resource Allocation in Time Division Multiple-Access over Fading Channels
We investigate energy-efficiency issues and resource allocation policies for time division multi-access (TDMA) over fading channels in the power-limited regime. Supposing that the channels are frequency-flat block-fading and transmitters have full or quantized channel state information (CSI), we first minimize power under a weighted sum-rate constraint and show that the optimal rate and time al...
متن کاملEFFICIENT RESOURCE ALLOCATION FOR QoS CHANNELS IN MF-TDMA SATELLITE SYSTEMS
In this paper, we address the problem of providing guaranteed quality of service (QoS) channels over multifrequency time division multiple access (MF-TDMA) systems that employ DPSK with multiple modulation modes. The two QoS measures that we consider are the bit error rate (BER) and the data rate. We treat the data rate as a deterministic QoS measure, and the BER as a statistical QoS measure. O...
متن کاملResource allocation for maximizing outage throughput in OFDMA systems with finite-rate feedback
Previous works on orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) systems with quantized channel state information (CSI) were mainly based on suboptimal quantization methods. In this paper, we consider the performance limit of OFDMA systems with quantized CSI over independent Rayleigh fading channels using the rate-distortion theory. First, we establish a lower bound on the capacity of th...
متن کاملFurther Analysis on Resource Allocation in Wireless Communications Under Imperfect Channel State Information
For practical wireless transmissions, a transmitter cannot always receive the channel state information (CSI) perfectly due to feedback delay, estimation error and quantization error. Therefore, the prescribed quality of service (QoS) requirements, such as bit error rate (BER), can not be guaranteed and the system performance will then be degenerated. In this paper, the resource allocation for ...
