Mine Mechanization and Automation at CANMET, Natural Resources Canada

چکیده
Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) is a federal government department specializing in the sustainable development and use of natural resources—energy, minerals and metals, forests—and in Earth sciences. NRCan deals with natural resource issues that are important to Canadians. These issues are examined from both a national and international perspective, our expertise in science and technology, policy and research programmes. How we manage our land and resources today will determine the quality of life for Canadians now and in the future. The activities of NRCan in the mineral resources are realised within the Mining and Mineral Sciences Laboratories (MMSL) of CANMET, which include the Mine Mechanisation and Automation Program (MMAP). Based at the Experimental Mine in Val d’Or, the MMAP has for its goal to enhance health and safety in underground mining operations, facilitate mechanization and automation in narrow veins and deep mines, provide sound science to regulatory agencies and improve mine profitability. The MMAP is involved in a number of major projects such as the application of hydrogen fuelcell in underground mining equipment, electrification and (water powering) hydraulification of narrow vein mines, reduction of noise and vibration, miner location device, and hoisting.

متن کاملStress- Corrosion Crack Initiation of High-strength Pipeline Steel in Near-neutral pH Environments
Stress-corrosion cracking (SCC) tests were conducted in the near-neutral pH standard solution, NS4, and in an actual soil solution, using four-point bending at a high stress ratio and low frequency conditions very similar to those of operational pipelines. Pitting incubation appeared first and then pitting initiated and grew in both solutions although there were many more pits on the specimen t...
متن کاملApplication of an integrated decision-making approach based on FDAHP and PROMETHEE for selection of optimal coal seam for mechanization; A case study of the Tazareh coal mine complex, Iran
Increasing the production rate and minimizing the related costs, while optimizing the safety measures, are nowadays’ most important tasks in the mining industry. To these ends, mechanization of mines could be applied, which can result in significant cost reductions and higher levels of profitability for underground mines. The potential of a coal mine mechanization depends on some important fact...

متن کاملA Comparison of Underground Opening Support Design Methods in Jointed Rock Mass (TECHNICAL NOTE)
It is of great importance to consider long-term stability of rock mass around the openings of underground structure, during design, construction and operation of the said structures in rock. In this context, three methods namely, empirical, analytical and numerical have been applied to design and analyze the stability of underground infrastructure at the Siah Bisheh Pumping Storage Hydro-Electr...
