a matter of considerable difficulty and treatment protracted and laborious. The disability and impairment of .function may be out of all proportion to the pathological lesion. Moreover, it is often necessary to supplement any operative procedure by a prolonged course of graduated remedial exercises or of physio-therapy. The management of such cases, therefore, requires considerable experience and judgment. It is hoped that the conditions described in this paper will be found of interest.
