A Parallel Implementation of a Three-Dimensional Fast Fourier Transform on CRAY T3E

چکیده
This paper outlines a simple, e cient, and scalable parallel implementation of a Three-dimensional Fast Fourier Transform (FFT3D) on the Cray T3E supercomputer. This implementation is intended to be used in electronic structure calculations within the Plane Wave (PW) framework. The program exhibits low communication overhead and very well balanced workload. Results of testing runs using Apprentice and PAT are shown. A comparison to the single processor Cray routine CCFFT3D is found to be quite positive.

Parallel Distributed Fast 3d Poisson Solver
The fast Poisson solvers based on FFT computations are among the fastest techniques to solve Poisson problems on uniform grids. In this report, we present two parallel distributed implementations of a 3D fast Poisson solver in the context of the atmospheric simulation code Meso-NH 2]. The rst parallel implementation consists in implementing data movement between each computational step so that ...

متن کاملThe collective computing model
The parallel computing model presented in this paper, the Collective Computing model (CCM), is an improvement of the well-known Bulk Synchronous Parallel (BSP) model. The synchronicity imposed by the BSP model restricts the set of available algorithms and prevents the overlapping of computation and communication. Other models, like the LogP model, allow asynchronous computing and overlapping bu...
متن کاملA scalable HPF implementation of a finite-volume computational electromagnetics application on a CRAY T3E parallel system
The time-dependent Maxwell equations are one of the most important approaches to describing dynamic or wide-band frequency electromagnetic phenomena. A sequential finite-volume, characteristic-based procedure for solving the time-dependent, three-dimensional Maxwell equations has been successfully implemented in Fortran before. Due to its need for a large memory space and high demand on CPU tim...
متن کاملP3DFFT: A Framework for Parallel Computations of Fourier Transforms in Three Dimensions
Fourier and related transforms are a family of algorithms widely employed in diverse areas of computational science, notoriously difficult to scale on high-performance parallel computers with a large number of processing elements (cores). This paper introduces a popular software package called P3DFFT which implements fast Fourier transforms (FFTs) in three dimensions in a highly efficient and s...
