Adaptive ALE-TBox for Extending Terminological Knowledge

چکیده
Ontologies are usually considered as static data structures representing conceptual knowledge of humans. For certain types of applications it would be desirable to develop an algorithmic adaptation process that allows dynamic modifications of the ontology in the case new information is available. Dynamic updates can generate conflicts between old and new information resulting in inconsistencies. We propose an algorithm that can model the adaptation processes for conflicting and non-conflicting updates defined on ALE-TBoxes.

Abox Satisfiability Reduced to Terminological Reasoning in Expressive Description Logics
Description Logics knowledge bases are traditionally divided into a terminological part (Tbox), and an assertional part (Abox). However, most of recent results on practical algorithms are confined to terminological reasoning only. Due to the applications of Description Logics for databases and the so-called “Semantic Web”, there is a growing interest for practical algorithms for Abox reasoning....

Traditionally, the core of a Terminological Knowledge Representation System (TKRS) consists of a TBox or terminology, where concepts are introduced, and an ABox or world description, where facts about individuals are stated in terms of concept memberships. This design has a drawback because in most applications the TBox has to meet two functions at a time: On the one hand|similarly to a databas...

متن کاملA Terminological Interpretation of (Abductive) Logic Programming
The logic program formalism is commonly viewed as a modal or default logic. In this paper, we propose an alternative interpretation of the formalism as a terminological logic. A terminological logic is designed to represent two diierent forms of knowledge. A TBox represents deenitions for a set of concepts. An ABox represents the assertional knowledge of the expert. In our interpretation, a log...

Traditionally, the core of a Termino-logical Knowledge Representation System (TKRS) consists of a so-called TBox, where concepts are introduced, and an ABox, where facts about individuals are stated in terms of these concepts. This design has a drawback because in most applications the TBox has to meet two functions at a time: on the one hand, similar to a database schema, framelike structures ...
