چکیده

The Hierarchical Chinese Postman Problem (HCPP) is a Chinese Postman Problem with the arcs partitioned into priority classes ordered by a precedence relation. The problem under the sum criterion is polynomially solvable if the ordering is linear and each class is connected. For a known HCPP algorithm we give an O(n) improvement (n the number of nodes) leading to O(kn) with k the number of classes. The same complexity appears to hold for the lexicographic criterion which minimises the costs of the first priority class, then the costs of the second class, etc. The notions of servicing and traversing related to arcs, allow for more real life models of arc routing problems. We show how to incorporate these notions in known algorithms, without increasing the complexity. 2004 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

An algorithm for the hierarchical Chinese postman problem

The Hierarchical Chinese Postman Problem (HCPP) is a variant of the classical Chinese Postman Problem, in which the arcs are partitioned into clusters and a precedence relation is de ned on clusters. Practical applications of the HCPP include snow and ice control on the roads and determination of optimal torch paths in ame cutting. The HCPP is NP-hard in general, but polynomial-time solvable if...

On the mixed Chinese postman problem

The mixed Chinese postman problem is a version of the well-known Chinese postman problem in which the underlying graph consists of both directed and undirected edges. We give an integer linear programming formulation for this problem and then show that the extreme points of its linear relaxation polyhedron are all half-integral. keywords: Chinese postman problem, half-integrality, graph, flow

Matching, Euler tours and the Chinese postman

The solution of the Chinese postman problem using matching theory is given. The convex hull of integer solutions is described as a linear programming polyhedron. This polyhedron is used to show that a good algorithm gives an optimum solution. The algorithm is a specialization of the more general b-matching blossom algorithm. Algorithms for finding Euler tours and related problems are also discu...

The maximum benefit Chinese postman problem and the maximum benefit traveling salesman problem

This paper introduces the maximum benefit Chinese postman problem (MBCPP) and the maximum benefit traveling salesman problem (MBTSP). For the MBCPP a benefit is realized each time a link of a directed graph is traversed. The MBCPP relaxes the constraint of the Chinese postman problem that each link be traversed at least once and finds a tour of maximum total net benefit. For the MBTSP a benefit...

Chinese Postman Problem on Edge-Colored Multigraphs

It is well-known that the Chinese Postman Problem on undirected and directed graphs is polynomial-time solvable. We extend this result to edge-colored multigraphs. Our result is in sharp contrast to the Chinese Postman Problem on mixed graphs, i.e., graphs with directed and undirected edges, for which the problem is NP-hard.
