چکیده

This paper discusses the problem of thermal coupling in many-core processors manufactured in nonplanar FinFET technologies. Our work focuses on two research goals. Firstly, the results obtained from the thermal simulations allow the investigation of mutual thermal influence between neighboring cores in such processors, what can be used to develop thermal models of such architectures. Secondly, we describe a test integrated circuit designed specifically to mimic the thermal behavior of microprocessors manufactured in various technologies. In particular, this paper describes its design and presents selected simulation results obtained using Green's function-based thermal software. & 2014 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

Thermal-Hydraulics analysis of pressurized water reactor core by using single heated channel model

Thermal hydraulics of nuclear reactor as a basis of reactor safety has a very important role in reactor design and control. The thermal-hydraulic analysis provides input data to the reactor-physics analysis, whereas the latter gives information about the distribution of heat sources, which is needed to perform the thermal-hydraulic analysis. In this study single heated channel model as a very f...

Thermal Field Management for Many-core Processors

This paper first presents an analysis of the global thermal field in many core processors in deep nanometer (to 16nm) nodes under power and thermal budget. We show that the thermal field can have significant spatiotemporal non-uniformity along with high maximum temperature. We propose spatiotemporal power multiplexing as a proactive method to reduce spatial and temporal temperature gradients. S...

Thermal Convection of Rotating Micropolar Fluid in Hydromagnetics Saturating A Porous Medium

This paper deals with the theoretical investigation of the thermal instability of a thin layer of electrically conducting micropolar rotating fluid, heated from below in the presence of uniform vertical magnetic field in porous medium. A dispersion relation is obtained for a flat fluid layer, contained between two free boundaries using a linear stability analysis theory, and normal mode analysi...

Ventilated hollow core slab as a thermal mass strategy and its effect on thermal comfort; (case study: lotion college, England)

Thermal mass is the material's ability to store heat and release it after an amount of time and concrete is considered one of the best thermal mass material. Since concrete has been used widely in many building constructions, by considering the capability of concrete in terms of thermal mass, it is worthwhile to use this ability of concrete in order to build buildings more healthy and comfortab...

Thermal-aware dynamic voltage frequency scaling for many-core processors under process variations

Process variations yield the asymmetry on core performance in many-core processors. Adaptive voltage scaling can hide the variations, but that results in the different thermal characteristics of cores. By using the thermal characteristics, the efficiency of energy optimization and temperature management can be improved. Experiments showed that the proposed dynamic voltage frequency scaling cons...
