چکیده
In order to allow programmers to follow conventional techniques while creating applications that uses an internet, software in the internet must provide the same semantics as a conventional computer system, it means it must guarantee reliable communication. Transport protocol provides reliability, which is fundamental for all the applications. The transmission Control protocol (TCP) is the transport level protocol that provides a completely reliable connection –oriented, full duplex stream transport service that allows two application programs to form a connection, send data in either direction, and then terminate the connection. This paper reviews existing work done in this area Keywords— congestion, interference Range, flow control, error recovery.

A Hidden Node Aware Network Allocation Vector Management System for Multi-hop Wireless Ad hoc Networks
Many performance evaluations for IEEE 802.11distributed coordination function (DCF) have been previouslyreported in the literature. Some of them have clearly indicatedthat 802.11 MAC protocol has poor performance in multi-hopwireless ad hoc networks due to exposed and hidden nodeproblems. Although RTS/CTS transmission scheme mitigatesthese phenomena, it has not been successful in thoroughlyomit...
متن کاملSimulation Base Analysis of TCP Reno and TCP Westwood Over IEEE 802.11 Wireless Ad hoc Networks
Mobile ad hoc networking has been a fast growing research area for the last few years. The need for a network when there is no fixed infrastructure is no more limited to military and emergency applications; ad hoc networks can include private and public applications as well. In ad hoc networks, wireless mobile computing devices can perform critical network topology functions that are normally t...
متن کاملEvaluating the Effect of Ad Hoc Routing on TCP Performance in IEEE 802.11 Based MANETs
In this paper we analyze the impact of different ad hoc routing schemes on TCP traffic in multihop ad hoc wireless networks. Our hypothesis is that beyond a certain network size the uncontrolled broadcast transmission of routing messages will seriously degrade the performance of the TCP protocol. We experimentally determine the admissible operation ranges of MANETs where the level of such degra...
متن کاملRevealing the problems with 802.11 medium access control protocol in multi-hop wireless ad hoc networks
The IEEE 802.11 medium access control (MAC) protocol is a standard for wireless LANs, it is also widely used in almost all test beds and simulations for the research in wireless mobile multi-hop ad hoc networks. However, this protocol was not designed for multi-hop networks. Although it can support some ad hoc network architecture, it is not intended to support the wireless mobile ad hoc networ...
متن کاملA Rate-adaptive MAC Protocol Based on TCP Throughput for Ad Hoc Networks in fading channels
Wireless technology is becoming a leading option for future Internet access. Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) is one of the protocols designed on the basis of the transmission characteristics in wired networks. It is known that the TCP performance deteriorates drastically under a wireless communication environment. On the other hand, many wireless networking standards such as IEEE 802.11a, 8...
