چکیده

Although it has been clearly demonstrated that the output of free fatty acid from adipose tissue is enhanced by fasting and reduced by giving carbohydrate (1-3), the mechanism by which nutritional alteration affects the release of fatty acids from fat depots has not been defined. The reduction in lipoprotein lipase activity of adipose tissue that occurs with fasting (4) suggests that miechanisms other than appropriate change in the activity of this enzyme causes the increased release of fatty acids from fat tissue that occurs with fasting. Experiments were performed to determine whether alterations in the esterifying function contributed to the regulation of fatty acid output. Observations were made on the net change of free fatty acids during incubation of rat epididymal fat, and on the effect of glucose and insulin on this change and on the disposition of fatty acids added to the medium.

Factors affecting fatty acid oxidation in fat cells isolated from rat white adipose tissue.

Fat cells isolated from rat epididymal adipose tissue were incubated with albumin-bound [14C]palmitate. Incorporation of 14C into 14CO2 and glycerides was measured. Some evidence is presented to suggest that the exogenous palmitate pool is in isotopic equilibrium with intracellular precursors for these metabolic processes. Precautions were taken to minimize dilution of the exogenous palmitate p...

Effect of glucocorticoid hormones on fatty acid mobilization and re-esterification in rat adipose tissue.

1. The effect of dexamethasone and cortisol on fatty acid mobilization and re-esterification has been studied in intact adipose tissue and isolated fat cells of the rat. 2. Dexamethasone added in vitro inhibited both the re-esterification of mobilized free fatty acids and the esterification of palmitate in the medium. 3. Under several conditions (low concentrations of dexamethasone, cortisol at...

The effect of aerobic exercise on epicardial adipose tissue, insulin resistance, and some liver enzymes in high-fat diet-induced obesity male wistar rat

Background and Aim: Due to the prevalence and socio-economic consequences of obesity in mortality, cardiovascular (CAD) and nonalcoholic fatty liver disease the effectiveness of aerobic exercise on epicardial adipose tissue (EAT), insulin resistance (IR) and some liver enzymes of high-fat diet-induced obesity male wistar rats was investigated. Methods: Thirty-two male Wistar rats with an averag...

The Association of Omentin Gene Expression in Visceral and Subcutaneous Adipose Tissues with Plasma Fatty Acids Profile and Dietary Fatty Acids

Introduction: Omentin, an adipokine, with anti-inflammatory effects reduces insulin resistance, and can hence, play an important role in prevention of cardiovascular disease and diabetes. The present study aimed to investigate the association of plasma and dietary fatty acids with gene expression of omentin in visceral and subcutaneous adipose tissues. Materials and Methods: Visceral and subcut...

The metabolism of isolated fat cells. IV. Regulation of release of protein by lipolytic hormones and insulin.

Proteins of fat cells, isolated from rat epididymal fat pads, were labeled with 14C-histidine or 14C-leucine. The fate of the labeled protein was examined after subsequent treatment of the cells with hormones. Release of labeled proteins was stimulated by lipolytic hormones (adrenocorticotropic hormone, glucagon, and epinephrine) and by theophylline. Proteolysis, as measured by the appearance i...
