چکیده

We describe mosaicing for a sequence of images acquired by a camera rotating about its centre. The novel contributions are in two areas. First, in the automation and estimation of image registration: images (60+) are registered under a full (8 degrees of freedom) homography; the registration is automatic and robust, and a maximum likelihood estimator is used. In particular the registration is consistent so that there are no accumulated errors over a sequence. This means that it is not a problem if the sequence loops back on itself. The second novel area is in enhanced resolution. A region of the mosaic can be viewed at a resolution higher than any of the original frames. It is shown that the degree of resolution enhancement is determined by a measure based on a matrix norm. A maximum likelihood solution is given, which also takes account of the errors in the estimated homographies. An improved MAP estimator is also developed. Results of both MLE and MAP estimation are included for sequences acquired by a camcorder and a CCD camera.

A Fast and Reliable Image Mosaicing Technique with Application to Wide Area Motion Detection

Image mosaicing is stirring up a lot of interests in the research community for both its scientific significance and potential spinoff in real world applications. Being able to perform automatic image alignment in a common tonal and spatial reference can trigger a wide range of higher level image processing tasks such as panoramic image construction, scene depth computation, resolution enhancem...

A Transform-Domain Approach to Super-resolution Mosaicing of Compressed Images

The combination of image mosaicing and super-resolution imaging, i.e. superresolution mosaicing, is a powerful means of representing all the information of multiple overlapping images to obtain a high resolution broad view of a scene. In most current image acquisition systems, images are routinely compressed prior to transmission and storage. In this paper, we present a robust super-resolution ...

Mosaicing from a Translating Camera, with Eecient Application of Super-resolution

Mosaicing and super resolution are two ways to combine information from multiple frames in video sequences. Mosaicing displays the information of multiple frames in a single panoramic image. Super-resolution uses regions which appear in multiple frames to improve resolution and reduce noise. Combining both methods enables to represent all the static information in the sequence in a compact and ...

Applying super-resolution to panoramic mosaics

Mosaicing and super resolution are two ways to combine information from multiple frames in video sequences. Mosaicing displays the information of multiple frames in a single panoramic image. Super-resolution uses regions which appear in multiple frames to improve resolution and reduce noise. Simple combination of the two methods is problematic since the alignment used for mosaicing may not be a...
