Reproductive effects of a neonicotinoid insecticide (Imidacloprid) in the German Cockroaches Blattella germanica L. (Dictyoptera, Blattellidae)

چکیده
Imidacloprid a neonicotinoid insecticide was administrated by injection to newly emerged adults of the German cockroach Blattella germanica (Insecta, Dictyoptera) at 0.0002% and 0.0005% doses corresponding to the LD50 and LD90 respectively. The insecticidal effect of compound was investigated on ovarian growth during the first gonadotrophic cycle (0, 2, 4 and 6 days) under laboratory conditions. Results showed that imidacloprid reduced the number of oocytes per paired ovaries and the size of basal oocytes with a dose-response relationship. Furthermore, the compound was examined on ovarian biochemical composition. Biochemical analysis revealed that the insecticide at the two tested doses reduced significantly the contents of proteins, lipids and carbohydrates as compared with control series. The overall results suggest an interference of the compounds with the vitellogenesis.

Detection of malathion and chlorpyrifos resistance mechanism in German cockroaches (Blattella germanica, Insecta: Blattodea: Blattellidae) using piperonyl butoxide and tributyl phosphorotrithioate
Introduction: German cockroach (Blattella germanica, Insecta: Blattodea: Blattellidae) is considered one of the most common household pests which can transfer pathogenic agents and also cause allergic reactions. Frequent and uncontrolled spraying caused resistance in German cockroach to insecticides. In this study we aimed, to determine the malathion and chlorpyrifos resistance mechanism ...
متن کاملLaboratory and field performance of an imidacloprid gel bait against German cockroaches (Dictyoptera: Blattellidae).
An experimental 2.15% imidacloprid gel bait containing approximately 44% water was evaluated in laboratory and field studies against the German cockroach, Blattella germanica (L). In continuous exposure tests, toxicity and presumably bait consumption varied with cockroach stage, deprivation of competitive food, and temperature. The LT50 values for cockroaches provided with competitive food rang...
متن کاملToxicity of Pyrethroid and Organophosphorous Insecticides against Two Field Collected Strains of the German Cockroach Blattella germanica (Blattaria: Blattellidae)
BACKGROUND The German cockroach, Blattella germanica is a major hygienic pest and mechanical vector for pathogenic agents in hospitals and residential areas. The development of insecticide resistance is a serious problem in controlling of this pest. Toxicity of four commonly used insecticides (permethrin, cypermethrin, malathion and chlorpyrifos) against two hospital- collected strains of the G...
متن کاملCumulative toxicity and delayed temperature effects of hydramethylnon on German cockroaches (Orthoptera: Blattellidae).
J. Econ. Enlomol. 79: 1613-1616 (1986) ABSTRACT Blattella germanica (L.) males succumbed to two consecutive sublethal doses of hydramethylnon (an amidinohydrazone) spaced up to 6 days apart. The same effect was not observed with a carbamate (propoxur) or organophosphate (chlorpyrifos) insecticide. Radiotracer analysis revealed presence of HCresidues inside cockroaches for at least 21 days follo...
