چکیده

Precipitins for bovine papilloma virus (BPV) which developed following experimental infection of 21 calves were character ized by diethylaminoethyl-cellulose chromatography, gel filtration with Sephadex G-200, sucrose density gradient, and ana lytic ultracentrifugation. A 19 S antibody alone was found 1 week after initial exposure to BPV which persisted at demon strable levels for 8 weeks. Both 19 S and 7 S antibodies were found between 2 and 8 weeks. A 7 S antibody alone was consistently found in serums 16 weeks after the initial expo sure to BPV. Precipitins appeared earlier than development of resistance to reinfection with BPV, and their presence in serum could not be correlated with growth or regression of the bo vine fibropapillomas.

Persistent bovine viral diarrhea virus (BVDV) infection in cattle herds

Bovine viral diarrhea virus (BVDV) is a significant pathogen associated with gastrointestinal, respiratory, and reproductive diseases of cattle worldwide. It causes continuous economic losses to the cattle industry primarily due to decreased reproductive performance. The ability of virus to cross the placenta during early pregnancy can result in the birth of persistently infected (PI) calves. P...

The effect of bovine viral diarrhea virus on bovine monocyte phenotype

Bovine viral diarrhea virus (BVDV) is an economically important pathogen of the livestock industry worldwide. BVDV is classified into cytopathic (cp) and noncytopathic (ncp), depending on its effects on cultured cells. BVDV is known to alter the host’s immune response. Of this, major histocompatibility complex (MHC) class II molecules play a central role in the development and function of the i...

Serological and genomic detection of bovine leukemia virus in human and cattle samples

Bovine leukemia virus (BLV) is a retrovirus responsible for lymphoproliferative disorders in cattle. Although infections of BLV in animals are well known, little is known about its capacity to infect humans. This study investigated the presence of anti-BLV antibodies and BLV proviruses in human and cattle samples. An indirect enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) was used to detect anti-BL...
