چکیده

A method for producing a laser guide star wavefront sensor for adaptive optics with reduced focal anisoplanatism is presented. A theoretical analysis and numerical simulations have been carried out and the results are presented. The technique, named SPLASH (Sky-Projected Laser Array Shack-Hartmann), is shown to suffer considerably less from focal anisoplanatism than a conventional laser guide star system. The method is potentially suitable for large telescope apertures (∼ 8 m), and possibly for extremely large telescopes.

Advanced Methods for Improving the Efficiency of a Shack Hartmann Wavefront Sensor

Wavefront sensor is a device that measures the optical wavefront aberration. The Shack Hartmann wavefront sensor (SHWS), named after Johannes Franz Hartmann and Roland Shack, is one of the most often used optical wavefront sensor. It is made up of an array of microlenses (all having the same focal length and aperture size) and a detector placed at the focal plane of these microlenses. Johannes ...

Hartmann-Shack sensor ASIC’s for real-time adaptive optics in biomedical physics

Hartmann-Shack wavefront sensors are widely used to measure wavefront aberrations. Their applications in biomedical physics are mainly in the fields, where lasers are used for diagnostics or treatment, especially in opthalmology. In a number of applications, e.g. retina scanning, the imaging performance is limited by temporal aberration fluctuations. A fast Hartmann-Shack sensor in combination ...

Wavefront Distortion Measurement of a Sr Extraction Mirror for the Beam Profile Monitor Using Shack- Hartmann Method

The wavefront measurement technique using the Shack Hartmann wavefront sensor has been developed for measurement of wavefront distortion of a SR extraction mirror for the beam profile monitor at Photon Factory. The instrument consists of a multi-lens array ( 8x8 array, 250 mm pitch and focal length of 4.5 mm), a beam expander (20:1), an image relay lens system (1:1), a HeNe laser (633 nm) and a...

An Optical Wavefront Sensor Based on a Double Layer Microlens Array

In order to determine light aberrations, Shack-Hartmann optical wavefront sensors make use of microlens arrays (MLA) to divide the incident light into small parts and focus them onto image planes. In this paper, we present the design and fabrication of long focal length MLA with various shapes and arrangements based on a double layer structure for optical wavefront sensing applications. A longe...
