Abstract:

Single crystats of CdTe and CdSe have been grown by vapcr pnase deposition . Crystals grown in the from of platelets were studied by X-ray diffraction Laue method. It was found llial the faU;:) of O1Te with zincblcndc structure are of {tIl} type and tbose ofCdSe with wunlile structure are of {l120} or {IOIO} types. Platelets of CdTe have one smooth face and one rough face which can be distinguished even wllh bear eyes. Chemical etching of CdTe revealed that the smooth face is composed of Cd atoms and the other face of Te atoms. However, chemical etching of CdSe did nOI show any polarity because both types of crystalline planes {I120} and {lotO} are composed of both alOms. The chemical solotion of Hel, MI. Br2 (2:3:0.3) was found 10 aCI 3. .. a suitable chemical polish ror CdSe single crystals.

Optical characterization of type-II CdTe/CdSe/CdTe heterostructure nanorods

The optical characteristics of an indirect type II transition in a series of size and shape-controlled linear CdTe/CdSe/CdTe heterostructure nanorods was studied by steady state and time resolved photoluminescence spectra. The energy and lifetime of the photoluminescence from the charge-separated band structure can be tuned by the band edges of the nanorods. Our results show a size-dependent tr...

Colloidal synthesis and optical properties of type-II CdSe-CdTe and inverted CdTe-CdSe core-wing heteronanoplatelets.

We developed colloidal synthesis to investigate the structural and electronic properties of CdSe-CdTe and inverted CdTe-CdSe heteronanoplatelets and experimentally demonstrate that the overgrowth of cadmium selenide or cadmium telluride core nanoplatelets with counterpartner chalcogenide wings leads to type-II heteronanoplatelets with emission energies defined by the bandgaps of the CdSe and Cd...

Recombination dynamics in CdTe/CdSe type-II quantum dots.

Recombination dynamics in CdTe/CdSe core-shell type-II quantum dots (QDs) has been investigated by time-resolved photoluminescence (PL) spectroscopy. A very long PL decay time of several hundred nanoseconds has been found at low temperature, which can be rationalized by the spatially separated electrons and holes occurring in a type-II heterostructure. For the temperature dependence of the radi...

Type-II Colloidal Quantum Wells: CdSe/CdTe Core/Crown Heteronanoplatelets

Solution-processed quantum wells, also known as colloidal nanoplatelets (NPLs), are emerging as promising materials for colloidal optoelectronics. In this work, we report the synthesis and characterization of CdSe/CdTe core/crown NPLs exhibiting a Type-II electronic structure and Type-II specific optical properties. Here, based on a core-seeded approach, the CdSe/CdTe core/crown NPLs were synth...
