Atomic Absorption Spectrometric Determination of Lead after Extraction and Preconcentration with 5-Br-PADAP

author

Abstract:

Lead is quantitatively retained on 2-(5-bromo-2-pyridylazo)-5-diethylaminophenol (5-Br-PADAP)-ammonium tetraphenylborate with microcrystalline naphthalene or by a column method in the pH range 4.0-6.0 from a large volume of aqueous solutions of various samples with preconcentration factor of 60. After filtration, the solid mass consisting of the lead complex and naphthalene was dissolved with 5 mL of dimethylformamide and the metal was determined by atomic absorption spectrometry. The calibration curve is linear in the range of 1.9-180 mg/mL in DMF with a relative standard deviation 1.7&. The interference of a large number of anions and cations has been studied.

Determination of lead and cadmium in water samples by cloud point extraction prior to flame atomic absorption spectrometry determination

Pb and Cd in water samples were determined by cloud point extraction (CPE) with sodiumdiethyldithiocarbamate (DDTC) as the chelating agent and octylphenoxypolyethanl (Triton X-114) asthe surfactant prior to flame atomic absorption spectrometry (FAAS) determination. The main factorsof affecting the extraction and detection processes were optimized. The preconcentration of 10 mL ofstandard soluti...

Preconcentration of Cu(II)with magnetic nanocomposite sorbentsprior to determination by Flame Atomic Absorption Spectrometer

A simple, highly sensitive, accurate and selective method for determination of trace amounts of Cu2+ in water samples .In this paper, Chitosan was used to encapsulate nano-Fe3O4 and produce a nano-Fe3O4-CHITOSAN sorbent based new sorbent was prepared. This was treated with ethylenediamine (ED) in another solvent-free procedure for the formation of a novel nano-Fe3O4-Chitosan-ED.Flame atomic abs...

Determination of Rhodium(III) Ions by Flame Atomic Absorption Spectrometry after Preconcentration with Modified Magnetic Activated Carbon

A new method for analysis of trace amount of Rh(III) ions by magnetic activated carbon modified with 2,3,5,6-tetra(2-pyridyl)pyrazine (MAC/TPPZ) as the magnetic sorbent has been proposed. The proposed adsorbent was found to be advantageous over conventional solid phase extraction (SPE) in terms of operational simplicity and low time-consuming. The experimental parameters affecting the extractio...

Adsorption and Preconcentration of lead(II) by Solid-Phase Extraction Prior to Determination by Flame Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometry

A simple, reliable and rapid method for preconcentration and modification of silica gel with Isopropyl 2-[(isopropoxy carbothioyl)disulfanyl]ethanethioate(IIDE) in order to prepare an effective sorbent for the preconcentration and determination of lead. The sorption capacity of Isopropyl 2[(isopropoxy carbothioyl)disulfanyl]ethanethioate(IIDE)-modified silica-gel (IIDE MS) was 82.34 mg.g  -1 a...
