Abstract:

The purpose of this study was to examine the difference between two types of the soccer instep kick in temporal sequence of motion and muscle electromyography, during forward swing phase of the kick. Ten elite soccer players, volunteered as subjects in the study. To culculate the kinematics data, we used DLT method with two video camera that filmed five markers fixed on anatomical points of lower body, at 240 fpm. Moreover the electromyography of rectus femoris, vastus medialis and tibialis anterior were estimated. Kinematic data from ten players was extracted using image processing toolbox of MATLAB software. Using these results, we compared sequences of joint motion and progression of activation muscle in low drive and high drive kick. The results indicate that there was a difference in ranks of muscle activation between two kick, but there were no difference in muscles activation time and sequence of joint motion between low drive and high drive kick. Furthermore both kicks have a similar proximal-distal pattern and interaction in muscles contraction and joints motion

Kinematic Analysis of the Instep Kick in Youth Soccer Players

We attempted to establish which applied kinematic variables significantly contributed to the efficiency of the instep kick motion in soccer. The study sample comprised 13 boys (age: 13 ± 0.5 yrs; body mass: 41.50 ± 8.40 kg; body height: 151.46 ± 5.93 cm) from the FC Sloboda school of soccer. Each participant performed three kicks with maximum strength that were video recorded with two synchroni...

The Effect of Approach Velocity on Centre of Mass Motion and Performance of the Maximal Instep Soccer Kick

The purpose of this study was to investigate the influence of approach velocity on centre of mass (CoM) motion and total body angular momentum during the maximal instep soccer kick. Four semi-professional players performed kicks at Self-Selected (SS), Fast and Slow approach speeds and full body motion was captured at 1000Hz. Dependent variables were CoM approach velocity, CoM deceleration impul...

Kinematic Comparison of Successful and Unsuccessful Instep Kick in Indoor Soccer

Problem statement: Kicking is one of the most important skills in indoor soccer. Kicking accuracy is an important component of this skill. The instep kick is often used when tacking a penalty kicks, as a combination of increased ball speed and kick accuracy can be maintained. The purpose of this research was to compare selected kinematic parameters of the kicking foot during the performance of ...
