Abstract:

Introduction: The precise mechanism for antisperm antibody (ASA) mediated fertility impairment is unclear. In the male reproductive tract, ASA may have an adverse impact on sperm maturation and function or overall semen quality. In this study, the percentage of ASA-IgA was determined by the direct Mixed Agglutination Reaction (MAR) test in men from infertile couples in Khorramabad city. Furthermore, the semen parameters were evaluated in order to examine any correlation with the presence of ASA. Materials and Methods:85 men were tested for ASA as a part of an infertility evaluation. Patients were grouped according to percentage of ASA of < 10%. Or 10%. Semen parameters (Volume less than 2ml, concentration less than 20×106/ ml, and motility less than 50%) were calculated for each group. Statistical analysis was performed using Fisher’s exact test. Results: Results showed that 20% of this population were ASA-positive. Volume less than 2ml was not associated with ASA by direct MAR (P = 0.56). Concentration less than 20×106/ml was not associated with ASA by direct MAR. Motility less than 50% was significantly associated with ASA by direct MAR (P = 0.005). Conclusion: Antisperm antibodies can disrupt normal sperm function by damaging sperm motility. Therefore, it can be suggest that patients with sperm motility than 50% should become Candidate of ASA assay.

The Correlation between Sexual Practices and the Development of Antisperm Antibodies

Background Infertility is one of the most common and important subjects in today’s obstetrics and gynecology. Immunological factors such as the presence of antisperm antibodies (ASA) are challenging etiologies for infertility. This study was performed to determine the correlation between the type of sexual practices (oral‚ anal and vaginal during menstruation) and the ASA levels in semen and in...

Correlation between bull fertility and sperm cell velocity parameters generated by computer-assisted semen analysis.

Motility is one of the most important characteristics associated with the fertilising ability of spermatozoa indicating their viability and structural integrity. Therefore, the examination of motility constitutes an integral part of semen analysis. Computer-assisted semen analysis (CASA) allows an accurate and objective assessment of different sperm motion characteristics with high repeatabilit...

The Correlation Between Semen Parameters and Pregnancy Outcome after Intrauterine Insemination

Backgroud: Intrauterine insemination (IUI) is generally attempted before proceeding to more expensive and invasive assisted reproductive techniques such as invitro fertilization (IVF) and intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI). This procedure is most commonly performed as a therapeutic method for couples with a wide variety of subfertility etiologies, such as low count or low motility of sperm...

Correlation between tremor parameters.

The relationship between clinically scored tremor and electromyographic measurements of tremor amplitude is not clear and few reports have examined correlations between different tremor parameters. The aim of this study was to evaluate the correlations between different tremor parameters, clinical tremor scoring, age and disease duration. A total of 525 patients with different types of tremor w...
