Abstract:

Groundwater is one of the most important water resources especially for irrigation in the east of Iran. So, it is important to note its water quality variation for deciding to manage it. To this end, the study were done to zone Birjand plain located at latitude between 32˚ 30’-33˚ 00’ N and longitude between 58˚ 45’-59˚ 41’ E. In order to achieve this goal, the required layers, Sodium adsorption ratio (SAR), total hardness (TH), sodium solubility percentage (SSP), residual sodium carbonate (RSC), permeability index (PI), magnesium adsorption ratio (MAR) and kellyes ratio (KR), were created at GIS. Then, these layers were weighed using analytical network process (ANP). The results revealed that 68.65% of the plain had moderately inappropriate quality. About 5.25 and 5.34% of the plain had appropriate (south-east) and very appropriate (part of central and west) quality, respectively. The worst quality was determined in the south-west side of the plain so that it covered about 13.77% of Birjand area. According to the results, it is recommended to develop well digging in the east and south side of this plain.

assessment of the efficiency of s.p.g.c refineries using network dea

data envelopment analysis (dea) is a powerful tool for measuring relative efficiency of organizational units referred to as decision making units (dmus). in most cases dmus have network structures with internal linking activities. traditional dea models, however, consider dmus as black boxes with no regard to their linking activities and therefore do not provide decision makers with the reasons...

Identification and Prioritization of Suitable Areas for Artificial Nutrition of Groundwater using GIS and AHP Method (Case Study: Tajan Plain)

In the coastal region reduction of groundwater is one of the most important problems. Excessive exploitation from groundwater is one of the main effective reasons that will lead to the progress of saline water, especially in seasons with low precipitation. Therefore, at the current research, identification of suitable areas for artificial groundwater recharge in the Tajan plain (with an area of...

Locating Suitable Areas for Groundwater Recharge Using GIS and WLC (Qorveh Plain in Kurdistan Province)

In recent decades, the ever-increasing population, human needs, and changes in the consumption patterns of societies require the planning and management of water resources more than ever. Among the management strategies of underground water resources, we can point out the compensation of these resources through artificial nutrition and exploitation according to the capacity of aquifers. The stu...

Determination of groundwater quality based on important irrigation indices using analytical hierarchy process method

The purpose of this research is the zoning of groundwater quality for agriculture usages in the Eyvanakey plain, conjugating Interpolation methods by Geographic Information System (GIS) and selection of the best weights in Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP). Achieving this aim, groundwater quality data from 19 wells in Eyvanakey plain were used. First, raster maps of the study area was prepared...

Groundwater quality assessment using artificial neural network: A case study of Bahabad plain, Yazd, Iran

Groundwater quality management is the most important issue in many arid and semi-arid countries, including Iran.Artificial neural network (ANN) has an extensive range of applications in water resources management. In this study, artificial neural network was developed using MATLAB R2013 software package, and Cl, EC, SO4 and NO3 qualitativeparameters were estimated and compared with the measured ...
