Abstract:

Abstract Background and Aim: The opacity of dental ceramics has important role in final appearance of all ceramic restorations. opacity of super high translucent zirconia is not clearly determined. The aim of this study was evaluating the opacity of two super high translucent zirconia (zolid fx and DD cubeX2 ) and lithium disilicate reinforced glass ceramic(IPS e.max CAD LT). Materials and Methods: In this experimental study, 30 ceramic discs with 1 mm thickness and 10 mm diameter in two groups of super high translucent zirconia ( zolid fx and DD cubex2) and one group of lithium disilicate reinforced glass ceramic (IPS e.max CAD LT) were fabricated(n=10). For determining the contrast ratio (CR), spectrophotometer was used to measure Y parameters of each sample in black and white backgrounds. One-way ANOVA and Tukey Post Hoc statistical tests were used to analyze the data. Level of significancy was 0.05. Results: The mean of CR in the three groups of IPS e.max CAD LT ، zolid fx and DD Cubex2 were 0.97 ± 0.002, 0.96 ± 0.004 and 0.96 ± 0.005 respectively. Significant differences were not found in the CR values of three groups (P = 0.2). Conclusion: Regarding the limitation of this study, Opacity of three ceramic were similar.

Lithium Disilicate Glass-Ceramic

ceramic on light transmission of light-emitting diode (LED) and quartz-tungsten-halogen units (QTH) were evaluated. Ceramic IPS e.max CAD shades A1, A2, A3, A3.5, high (HT) and low (LT) translucency were cut (1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 mm). Light sources emission spectra were determined. Light intensity incident and transmitted through each ceramic sample was measured to determine light transmission perc...

Esthetic rehabilitation with laminated ceramic veneers reinforced by lithium disilicate.

Because of their predictable results and conservation of tooth structure, ceramic veneers are indicated for the esthetic treatment of anterior teeth with anomalous positions or appearance. The objective of this case report is to highlight the steps in dental rehabilitation using ceramic veneers reinforced by lithium disilicate. In this case the patient had diastemas between the mandibular incis...

Effect of Lithium Disilicate Reinforced Liner Treatment on Bond and Fracture Strengths of Bilayered Zirconia All-Ceramic Crown

This study was performed to evaluate the effect of a lithium-disilicate spray-liner application on both the bond strength between zirconia cores and heat-pressed lithium-disilicate glass-ceramic veneers, and the fracture strength of all-ceramic zirconia crowns. A lithium-disilicate reinforced liner was applied on the surface of a zirconia core and lithium-disilicate glass-ceramic was veneered o...

Evaluation of marginal fit of 2 CAD-CAM anatomic contour zirconia crown systems and lithium disilicate glass-ceramic crown

PURPOSE This study was to evaluate the marginal fit of two CAD-CAM anatomic contour zirconia crown systems compared to lithium disilicate glass-ceramic crowns. MATERIALS AND METHODS Shoulder and deep chamfer margin were formed on each acrylic resin tooth model of a maxillary first premolar. Two CAD-CAM systems (Prettau®Zirconia and ZENOSTAR®ZR translucent) and lithium disilicate glass ceramic...

The Effect of Hydrofluoric Acid Concentration and Heat on the Bonding to Lithium Disilicate Glass Ceramic.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of hydrofluoric acid (HF) concentration and previous heat treatment (PHT) on the surface morphology and micro-shear bond strength (mSBS) of a lithium disilicate glass ceramic (EMX) to resin cement. One hundred four EMX specimens were randomly assigned to two groups (n=52) according to the HF concentration: 5% and 10%. A new random distribution w...

Chairside Fabrication of an All-Ceramic Partial Crown Using a Zirconia-Reinforced Lithium Silicate Ceramic

The chairside fabrication of a monolithic partial crown using a zirconia-reinforced lithium silicate (ZLS) ceramic is described. The fully digitized model-free workflow in a dental practice is possible due to the use of a powder-free intraoral scanner and the computer-aided design/computer-assisted manufacturing (CAD/CAM) of the restorations. The innovative ZLS material offers a singular combin...
