Abstract:

In this study, the mechanism of resistance to striped stem borer was investigated in 10 rice genotypes and at different levels of nitrogen fertilizer. In addition, the relationship between some quantitative and qualitative traits of rice genotypes was evaluated with the resistance to striped stem borer. This experiment was conducted as split plot based on randomized complete block design with four replications in field conditions. The results showed that Amol-3, Milad and Dasht genotypes were susceptible to striped stem borer and with increasing levels of N fertilizer, the percentage of damage also increased. But the Amol 3 cultivar because of the ability to tillering more, at higher levels of N fertilize,it has been able to some extent offset the decline in performance resulting from the pest attack. From among the quantitative traits studied, the stem diameter and plant height and among the qualitative traits studied form of plant growth (Stem Growth habit) and spinedleaf bladeplay an important role in contamination with rice striped stem borer. So that genotypes with lower stem diameter and shorter heights as well as the habit of stem growth standing or half standing and spined leaf blade (such as Tarom Jelodar, Danesh, Nemat, Jahesh, Partov, Amol2 and IR50) were less polluted.

introductory identification of resistant lines against the striped stem borer, chilo suppressalis (walker) under field conditions

in sustainable agriculture, using of resistant plants is one of the best methods for integrated pest management. resistance of 140 rice promising lines against striped stem borer was evaluated in two planting date in the field under natural infections in sari agricultural science and natural resources university during 2008-2009. this study carried out as a factorial experiment in randomized co...

development of strategies of rice striped stem borer (chilo suppressalis walk) management in farmers, field in mazandaran province

rice is the world's most important food crop. to decrease the damage of  rice pests, development of insect pest management strategies in rice is necessary. biennial results for determination of a suitable method to control striped stem borer in rice showed that integration of two methods of control (biological and mechanical) is a feasible effort to reduce stem borer infestation. to assure...

development of striped stem borer (chilo suppressalis) management strategies in hybrid rice in mazandaran province

rice is among the most important food crops throughout the world. hybrid rice benefits from about a 30 percent yield advantage over the conventional pure line varieties and this phenomenon can play an important role in fighting world hunger. to diminish the damage of rice pests, development of insect pest management strategies in hybrid rice is necessary. this study was aimed at evaluating the ...

Evaluation of Qualitative Traits of Grain in Rice Promising Lines (Oryza Sativa L.)

The development and production of genotypes with high quality is one of the important purposes in the plant breeding programs. In order to evaluate the qualitative traits, 77 lines of rice (F12 generation) in comparison to five control cultivars (including TaromMahalli, Sang-e-Tarom, NokSeyah, Fajr and Deilamani) were studied in the Biotechnology Laboratory of Sari Agricultural Sciences and N...
