Abstract:

AbstractThis paper examines the impasse in the current Doha Development Round negotiations andasks how the rules of the WTO could be changed to facilitate multilateral negotiations andto increase the welfare of the Member countries. It considers possible changes to the methodof negotiation. As examples of rules which are outdated, it considers the rules relating toregional trade agreements and to anti-dumping actions. Economic theory suggests stronglythat changes to these rules could increase international trade and benefit member countries. Then to the rolling Heav’n itself I cried, Asking, “What lamp had destiny to guide Her littleChildren stumbling in the Dark?”And – “A blind understanding!” Heav’n replied. The Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam by Omar Khayyam, translated by Edward Fitzgerald, FirstEdition, Quatrain XXXIIIJEL Classification: F13

It follows that computationalism can be true even if (human) cognition is not the result of computations in the brain....

How Composition Could be Identity

The paper argues that, as far as logic and abstract metaphysics go, the claim that composition is identity could be true, despite wellmotivated arguments against the coherence of the claim. The key to answering the arguments is to reject a principle of universal substitutivity of “identical” plural expressions while retaining Leibniz’ Law, that identicals have the same properties, relations, an...

How Could the Proton Transversity Be Measured

The perspectives of two new nonstandard methods of transversal quark polarization measurement are considered: the jet handedness and the so-called ”Collins effect” due to spin dependent T-odd fragmentation function responsible for the left-right asymmetry in fragmenting of transversally polarized quarks. Recent experimental indications in favor of these effects are observed: 1.The correlation o...
