چکیده

Objective(s) The effect of testosterone on anxiety-like behaviors has been the subject of some studies. There is evidence that testosterone modulates anxiety via GABA (gama aminobutyric acid) and GABAergic system. The involvement of GABAC receptors in those effects of testosterone on anxiety-like behaviors of the rats was investigated in the present study. Materials and Methods A group of rats received subcutaneous injections of testosterone (5, 10 and 20 mg/kg). Two groups of rats received intracerebroventricular injections of either CACA (GABAC agonist, 0.125 pg/rat) or TPMPA (GABAC antagonist, 3 microg/rat) following administration of testosterone (5, 10 and 20 mg/kg). After the injections, the rats were submitted to the elevated plus-maze test of anxiety. Results The rats received testosterone alone, showed a decreased in anxiety-like behaviors (P< 0.01). Administration of either CACA or TPMPA did not modify animals’ behavior compared to the rats received testosterone alone. Conclusion The results of the present study showed that administration of testosterone induces anxiolytic-like behaviors in the rats and GABAC receptors possibly are not involved in the anxiolytic effect of testosterone.

Behavioral effect of naloxone on anxiolytic- like effect of noscapine in bulb/c mice

The effect of naloxone, a non-selective opioid antagonist on some anxiolytic and analgesic drugs is reported. Noscapine is an opioid alkaloid with antitussive effect that cannot be antagonized by naloxone. The anxiolytic-like effect of noscapine has been shown in light-dark model and elevated plus maze. In this study the effect of naloxone on anxiolytic effect of noscapine in light-dark model w...

Benzodiazepine/GABA(A) receptors are involved in magnesium-induced anxiolytic-like behavior in mice.

Behavioral studies have suggested an involvement of the glutamate pathway in the mechanism of action of anxiolytic drugs, including the NMDA receptor complex. It was shown that magnesium, an NMDA receptor inhibitor, exhibited anxiolytic-like activity in the elevated plus-maze test in mice. The purpose of the present study was to examine interaction between magnesium and benzodiazepine/GABA(A) r...

Anxiolytic-Like Effects of Antisauvagine-30 in Mice Are Not Mediated by CRF2 Receptors

The role of brain corticotropin-releasing factor type 2 (CRF2) receptors in behavioral stress responses remains controversial. Conflicting findings suggest pro-stress, anti-stress or no effects of impeding CRF2 signaling. Previous studies have used antisauvagine-30 as a selective CRF2 antagonist. The present study tested the hypotheses that 1) potential anxiolytic-like actions of intracerebrove...
