چکیده مقاله:

Background: Studies have shown that postoperative sore throat is the most common complication of tracheal intubation, However, the actual incidence and extent of it are not well documented. Objective: The aim of this study was to evaluate and compare the incidence of sore throat and hemodynamic Changes in Macintosh, Glidescope Laryngoscope and laryngeal mask airway techniques in elective surgery. Methods: This randomized clinical trial study was performed on 90 patients undergoing elective surgery in Shahid Rajaee Hospital in Qazvin. Patients were randomly divided into three groups and three methods of intubation with the Macintosh, Glidescope Laryngoscope and laryngeal mask airway (LMA) were performed in patients. The incidence of sore throat, hemodynamic Changes, intubation time, and number of attempts were compared in three methods and analyzed by appropriate statistical methods. Results: Sore throat incidence was significantly higher in Macintosh group compared to the other two groups (P<.05). Duration of laryngoscopy was significantly longer in group Macintosh compared to group Glidescope (8.2 ± 2.4 vs. 6.8 ± 1.7, P=.02). In terms of hemodynamic variables, only heart rate in the LMA group in the third minute was significantly lower than the other two methods (P= 0.02). Conclusion: Sore throat incidence was higher in Macintosh group and hemodynamic changes were less in laryngeal mask airway group. LMA seems to be the preferred method in the elderly or in cardiovascular patients. Further studies are needed to confirm these results.

Incidence and severity of postoperative sore throat: a randomized comparison of Glidescope with Macintosh laryngoscope

BACKGROUND Postoperative sore throat (POST) is a common problem following endotracheal (ET) intubation during general anesthesia. The objective was to compare the incidence and severity of POST during routine intubation with Glidescope (GL) and Macintosh laryngoscope (MCL). METHODS One hundred forty adult patients ASA I and II with normal airway, scheduled to undergo elective surgery under GA...

"comparison of hemodynamic changes after insertion of laryngeal mask airway, facemask and endotracheal intubation"

hemodynamic changes are major hazards of general anesthesia and are probably generated by direct laryngoscopy and endotracheal intubation. we designed this prospective randomised study to assess the cardiovascular changes after either laryngeal mask airway (lma), face mask (fm) or endotracheal tube (ett) insertion in the airway management of adult patients anesthetised with nitrous oxide and ha...

Safety and efficacy of laryngeal mask airway Supreme versus laryngeal mask airway ProSeal: a randomized controlled trial.

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE The Supreme laryngeal mask airway (LMA) is a new single-use polyvinyl chloride supraglottic device that combines the functionality of the ProSeal and Fastrach airways. High oropharyngeal leak pressures are important as they indicate airway protection, feasibility of positive pressure ventilation and likelihood of successful LMA placement. The oropharyngeal leak pressure...

Comparison of the effect of thiopental sodium-midazolam combination on the hemodynamic response between tracheal intubation and laryngeal mask airway insertion: A clinical trial study

Background and Aim: The purpose of this study was to compare the effect of thiopental sodium-midazolam combination on the stress response and hemodynamic changes between tracheal intubation and laryngeal mask airway insertion during airway management. Materials and Methods: In this clinical trial study, 70 patients ASA 1, 2 candidates for elective surgery were randomly divided into two groups o...

Hemodynamic responses to insertion of the laryngeal mask airway versus Combitube

Introduction: One of the most common problems during laryngoscopy involves sympathetic system stimulation and the subsequent hemodynamic changes. It is a key measure to maintain the hemodynamic stability of patients with cardiovascular diseases during induction of anesthesia. This study attempted to compare the hemodynamic effects of laryngeal mask airway and combitube. Methods: This prospec...
