چکیده مقاله:

Traditional methods of field measurement of soil moisture in addition to the difficulty, the need for manpower and money and fail to take place on a large scale to be able to show moisture. Therefore, remote sensing has become a widespread use .Landsat 8 satellite data and Sentinel-1 radar satellite from Tehran were provided. 72 soil samples were taken at the same time by satellite passing from the area and used in the validation phase With the necessary processing on satellite images and utilizes four different groups of indicators: 1) SAVI, NDVI, MI, NDWI 2) bands of Landsat 8 3) filters Radar 4) LST to modeling soil moisture. The investigation of the accuracy of functions and the introduction of the most accurate models was done by calculating the regression relations between these criteria and the ground points. The results of comparison of relations in the final step introduced two multivariate regression models to estimate the moisture content of the proposed area. The results showed that the proposed models have a good correlation coefficient of R2 = 62 and R2 = 73. Also, among the indicators in the four groups, SAVI, Band 1, Band 11, Li and Least filters have the highest correlation for estimating soil moisture content. Keywords: Remote Sensing, Soil Moisture, Landsat 8, Sentinel-1.

Soil Moisture Estimation in Rangelands Using Remote Sensing (Case Study: Malayer, West of Iran)

Soil moisture is generally regarded as the limiting factors in rangeland production. Although many studies have been conducted to estimate soil moisture in semiarid areas, there is little information on mountainous rangelands in west of Iran. The present study aims to investigate the soil moisture estimation in rangelands as compared to the other land uses over a mountainous area in central Zag...

Soil Moisture Estimation Using Remote Sensing

Knowledge of soil moisture content in the root zone is important throughout a wide range of environmental applications, yet adequate monitoring or modelling of this parameter, particularly at larger spatial scales, is difficult due to its high spatial and temporal variability. To overcome the land surface model limits on soil moisture estimation accuracy, point measurement spatial coverage limi...

Soil moisture retrieval from optical and thermal spaceborne remote sensing.

Soil moisture is the water held in the soil within reach of plant roots and is one of the most important land environmental variables in perspective with land surface climatology, hydrology, and ecology. The soil moisture content (SMC) generally refers to the water contained in the upper 1-2 m of soil, which can potentially evaporate into the atmosphere. Variations in SMC have strong impacts on...

Estimation of Soil Moisture from Optical and Thermal Remote Sensing: A Review

As an important parameter in recent and numerous environmental studies, soil moisture (SM) influences the exchange of water and energy at the interface between the land surface and atmosphere. Accurate estimate of the spatio-temporal variations of SM is critical for numerous large-scale terrestrial studies. Although microwave remote sensing provides many algorithms to obtain SM at large scale, ...

A Perspective on Radar Remote Sensing of Soil Moisture

The sensitivity of microwave scattering to the dielectric properties and the geometric structure of soil surfaces makes radar remote sensing a challenge for a wide range of environmental issues directly related to the condition of natural surfaces. Especially, the potential for retrieving soil moisture with a high spatial and/or temporal resolution represents a significant contribution to hydro...
