Luminescence Properties of Oxyfluoride Glass and Glass Ceramic Doped with Y3 + Ions

نویسندگان

چکیده

Oxyfluoride glass ceramics containing CaF2nano-crystals doped with Y3+ ions were prepared by one-step crystallization of SiO2- Al2O3- CaO- CaF2 glasses at different temperatures. X- ray diffraction (XRD) results have revealed that CaF2 was the only precipitated crystalline phase in glass ceramic samples. According to the XRD results, a glass ceramic was selected as the best sample in order to compare its optical properties with basic glass. Photoluminescence (PL) and UV- Vis spectra have been employed to study optical properties of glass and glass ceramic samples. A broad band emission in the visible region was observed, which was stronger in the glassy sample. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) observation and EDX (Energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy) results proved the entrance of Y3+ ions into only some of the crystals embedded in the glassy matrix, which was the rational reason of photoluminescence intensity decrease in glass ceramic.

In the present study, the oxyfluoride glasses of SiO2-Al2O3-CaF2 system containing different amounts of Y3+ ions were prepared through the convenient melting method. The crystallization temperatures and size of the CaF2 nanocrystals were obtained from DTA curves and XRD patterns, respectively. As a consequence, the optimum amount...

Upconversion luminescence has been studied for Er in a germanate-oxyfluoride and a tellurium-germanate-oxyfluoride transparent glass-ceramic using 800 nm excitation. Significantly increased upconversion luminescence was observed from transparent glass-ceramics compared with that from their corresponding as-prepared glasses. In addition to a strong green emission centered at 545 nm from S3/2 sta...

Oxyfluoride lead borate glasses singly doped with Nd3+ and Er3+ ions have been studied before and after thermal treatment. The orthorhombic PbF2 crystallites are formed during thermal treatment, which was evidenced by X-ray diffraction analysis. Near-infrared luminescence spectra at 1.06 μm and 1.53 μm have been registered for samples before and after annealing, which correspond to the main F3/...

The technique of fluorescence l ine narrowing i s applied t o the TE 4A2 transition on Cr3+ ions in ED-2 glass. The resultant sharp zero-phonon l ine is accompanied by a vibrational sideband which carries information about the range of vibrational modes of the glass. The homogeneous broadening of the zero-phonon l ine is measured as a function of temperature.

It has been an open question whether Nd3+ ions are incorporated into the crystalline phase in oxyfluoride glass ceramics or not. Moreover, relative research has indicated that spectra characters display minor differences between before and after heat treatment in oxyfluoride glass compared to similar Er3+-, Yb3+-, Tm3+-, Eu3+-, etc.-doped materials. Here, we have studied the distribution of Nd3...

Glass-ceramic materials were developed from gabbro including MgO and Al2O3 additives. Heat treatments for phase transformation from glassy matrix to glass-ceramic were carried out at 1000 ◦C for 3 h. X-ray di raction studies conducted on the glass-ceramic samples revealed that the phases formed in the glass-ceramics were cordierite, anorthite, diopsitic augite, forsterite and andesine. Glass an...
