چکیده مقاله:

This review brings up to date material on the pulm'J:iary receptors with vagal afferent fibers. There a:·e essentially three typs of pulmonary receptors, 1) pulmonary stretch receptors, 2) irritant receptors, 3) type J pulmonary receptors. Their location, natu- 1 al stimulus, excitatory stimulus, reflex effects ancl their responses to chemical substances for three kind of recptas a,e discussed. Sensation of dyspnea acc:>mpanied by pulmonary congestion and sensation of b1eathlessncss during severe exercise are decieed to lyre J receptors.

Muscarinic acetylcholine receptors in the lung.

5 genetically distinct subtypes of muscarinic acetylcholine receptors have been cloned from human and rat tissues [l, 2 , 31 and these have been dubbed ml, m2, m3, m4 and m5. Each individual subtype has been expressed in animal cells and their pharmacology determined (4). It appears that the pharmacological subtypes Ml, M2 and M3 correspond to the cloned subtypes ml, m2 and m3. However, m4 and ...

Proteinase-activated receptors in fibroproliferative lung disease.

The coagulation cascade plays a central role in the pathogenesis of fibroproliferative lung diseases such as the acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) and idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) through multifaceted effects on haemostasis, inflammation and tissue repair. However, targeting the coagulation cascade using traditional anticoagulant approaches has not resulted in improved outcomes ...

Peroxisome Proliferator-Activated Receptors in Lung Cancer

Peroxisome proliferator-activated receptors (PPARs) are ligand-activated transcription factors belonging to the nuclear hormone receptor superfamily. Their discovery in the 1990s provided insights into the cellular mechanisms involved in the control of energy homeostasis; the regulation of cell differentiation, proliferation, and apoptosis; and the modulation of important biological and patholo...

Autotaxin signaling, purinergic receptors and lung damage

ATX is a secreted enzyme that produces lysophosphatindic acid (LPA) in plasma. For several years investigators have characterized endogenous factors that regulate ATX expression and compartmentalization. However many questions remain unanswered and this article highlights our recent finding that autotaxin (ATX) is readily induced by toxic environmental chemicals. LPA binds G-protein coupled rec...

Role of retinoic receptors in lung carcinogenesis

Several in vitro and in vivo studies have examined the positive and negative effects of retinoids (vitamin A analogs) in premalignant and malignant lesions. Retinoids have been used as chemopreventive and anticancer agents because of their pleiotropic regulator function in cell differentiation, growth, proliferation and apoptosis through interaction with two types of nuclear receptors: retinoic...

NOD-Like Receptors in Lung Diseases

The lung is a particularly vulnerable organ at the interface of the body and the exterior environment. It is constantly exposed to microbes and particles by inhalation. The innate immune system needs to react promptly and adequately to potential dangers posed by these microbes and particles, while at the same time avoiding extensive tissue damage. Nucleotide-binding oligomerization domain-like ...
