چکیده مقاله:

In the present study basidiomycetous yeast species were characterised from soil samples in different regions of Iran. Soil samples were collected from 5–15 cm depth, subsequently yeasts were isolated and purified. Yeast isolates were identified using D1/D2 domains of 26S rRNA and physiologic tests. The results of this study revealed a rich diversity amongst basidiomycetous yeast species in the sampled areas.  In this paper we report and characterise 25 species belonging to six genera viz., Trichosporon pullulans, Rhodotorula mucilaginosa, R. minuta, R. lysiniphila, R. laryngis, Rhodosporidium kratochvilovae, R. babjevae, Holtermanniella takashimae, Fibulobasidium inconspicuum, Crytococcus ramirezgomezianus, Cryptococcus watticus, C. victoriae, C. uzbekistanensis, C. terreus, C. saitoi, C. podzolicus, C. oeirensis, C. friedmannii, C. flavescens, C. diffluens, C. bhutanensis, C. albidus, C. albidosimilis, C. aerius, C. adeliensis. All of these species represent  new records for the mycobiota of Iran. Members of the genus Cryptococcus were the most donimnat basidiomycetous yeast and Cryptococcus aerius was commonly isolated from all soil samples as the dominat species.

Molecular and phenotypic characterization of ascomycetous yeasts in hypersaline soils of Urmia Lake basin (NW Iran)

Abstract The Urmia Lake National Park (NW Iran) represents a unique ecosystem owing to special ecological conditions prevailing the region. The Urmia Lake National Park comprises a range of normal to extreme environments, with variable range of salinity between 120-300 g/L. The present study was aimed to characterize ascomycetous yeast mycobiota inhabiting hypersaline soils in this region. Soi...

Dioszegia antarctica sp. nov. and Dioszegia cryoxerica sp. nov., psychrophilic basidiomycetous yeasts from polar desert soils in Antarctica.

During a survey of the culturable soil fungal population in samples collected in Taylor Valley, South Victoria Land, Antarctica, 13 basidiomycetous yeast strains with orange-coloured colonies were isolated. Phylogenetic analyses of internal transcribed spacer (ITS) and partial LSU rRNA gene sequences showed that the strains belong to the Dioszegia clade of the Tremellales (Tremellomycetes, Agar...

Sarcocystis cruzi: First molecular identification from cattle in Iran

Sarcocystis is a genus of cyst-forming parasites infecting both animals and human. This study aimed to isolate coccidian tissue cysts from muscle of infected animals by a simple method in addition to molecular identification of Sarcocystis cruzi from the samples. The samples were obtained from commercial source in Babol, Northern Iran. Five grams of calf muscle was cut into 2-3 pieces in 30 ml ...

In vitro antifungal susceptibilities of uncommon basidiomycetous yeasts.

The in vitro activities of eight antifungal drugs against 50 isolates of basidiomycetous yeasts were determined by a microdilution method. In general fluconazole and micafungin were inactive. Terbinafine was active only against Sporobolomyces salmonicolor. The activities of the other antifungals were variable and depended on the species tested. The new triazoles showed the lowest MICs, but amph...
