چکیده مقاله:

NF-κB pathway is a link between inflammation and cancer and is involved in cellular responses to different stimuli. Gastrointestinal lumen is exposed to many inflammatory agents such as foods, free radicals and bacterial or viral antigens. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the possible role of NF-κB1in gastric adenocarcinoma. To detect the relative level of NF-κB1transcript, total RNA was extracted from tissue specimens, a cDNA library was generated, and quantitative RT-PCR was performed for thirty human gastric adenocarcinoma tissue samples and thirty matched normal gastric tissue samples. NF-κB1 expression showed two-sidedness, which means that a group of 11 sample pairs showed up-regulation and a group of 16 sample pairs showed down-regulation. No histopathologic characteristics of samples could justify the observed two-sidedness. The NF-κB1 two-sidedness expression indicates the involvement of NF-κB1 and in a larger scale, NF-κB signaling pathway in gastric carcinogenesis. Our results show the complexity of regulatory mechanisms involved in developing and controlling the process of gastric cancer pathogenesis.

mucin profile expression in gastric adenocarcinoma

background the process of neoplastic transformation in the stomach has been reported to be associated with decreased expression of normal mucins of the gastric mucosa and denovo expression of mucins that are normally expressed in other organs. this association may be used as a means to bring new insights into biologic behavior and genetic pathways in the development of gastric cancer. there are...

Detection and Significance of Human Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor 2 Expression in Gastric Adenocarcinoma

BACKGROUND Human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2) is involved in the pathogenesis of several types of cancer, including gastric cancer. Overexpression of HER2 is noted in 10%-22.8% of gastric adenocarcinoma and its identification is of immense importance for management by targeted drugs. Detection of HER2 expression in gastric malignancies has not been undertaken previously in the loca...

Growth hormone receptor expression in human primary gastric adenocarcinoma

The aim of this study was to determine the expression of growth hormone receptor (GHR) in patients with primary gastric adenocarcinoma. We investigated 48 specimens of primary gastric adenocarcinoma and their corresponding normal gastric mucosa. Immunohistochemistry and reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) were used to detect the expression of GHR. Immunohistochemical analys...

IN TRAOPERATIVE RADIATION THERAPY FOR GASTRIC ADENOCARCINOMA

Intraoperative radiation therapy (IORT) is a multidisciplinary approach in which residual tumors or tumor beds are directly irradiated during a surgical procedure. To evaluate its efficacy, from 1985, we conducted a prospective study including non-metastatic gastric adenocarcinoma treated by surgery, IORT (15 Grays) and postoperative external beam radiotherapy (44 Grays). Up to 1993, 51 ca...

Comparison of OGG1 gene expression level in gastric adenocarcinoma and adjacent normal tissue

Background and aims: Gastric cancer is a major public health issue as the fourth leading cause of cancer-related death in the world. Reactive oxygen species (ROS) induce DNA damage and this process plays an important role in gastric cancer development and progression. OGG1 is an essential component of the base excision repair pathway  that is required for the removal of oxidized guanine nucl...
