Patient-centered care with the Patient Rights Charter approach: A qualitative study

چکیده مقاله:

  Introduction Patient-centered care is one of the major priorities of the health system to improve patient safety and satisfaction, but in many cases it is not provided in accordance with the Patient Rights Charter. Therefore, the present study aimed to design a patient-centered model of care with the approach of the Charter of Patient Rights in Arbitrary Hospitals of the Ministry of Health of Iran. Materials and Methods This study was a qualitative study. Participants included 21 expert managers and nurses, nursing managers of educational hospitals and selected hospitals. The method of data collection was in-depth interviews. The data were analyzed by qualitative content analysis. Results The process of data analysis led to the emergence of 6 themes. These themes were titled with nursing services management, information, resource and care, patient charter, patient safety, and spiritual care, each of them derived from categories, subcategories, and primary codes, which are described in detail in the article. Conclusion Paying attention to the dimensions of patient-centered care and the need to promote patient rights is one of the priorities of the health care system. It is recommended that the patient-centered model of care with the patient rights charter approach be used in order to provide better health care services and satisfy the patients.
