چکیده مقاله:

field study was conducted at five villages of Botswana namely, Tsabong, Tshane, Mathathane, Motlhabaneng and Tsetsejwe during the periods of June to August 1999 and June to August 2000. The objective of the study was to assess and compare the soil physicochemical properties of soils at the five villages and to study the effect of cultivation on some soil physical properties. Parameters measured in the field included soil pH, organic carbon (OC), phosphorus (P), cation exchange capacity (CEC), exchangeable cations (Ca, Mg, K and Na), bulk density (BD), soil penetration resistance and infiltration rate. Soil pH, OC, CEC, Mg, Ca and BD were found to be significantly different in the five villages. The non-cultivated soil was found to have significantly lower bulk density, higher infiltration rate and higher penetration resistance compared to the cultivated soil. Soil from the Kgalagadi area was found to be significantly lower in nutrients in comparison with the soil from the Bobirwa area. The cultivated soil was found to have higher, bulk density, lower infiltration rate and lower penetration resistance.

Effect of Soil Physicochemical Properties on Adsorption of Tricyclazole

Many processes affect the behavior of pesticides in the environment, namely adsorption, transfer, breakdown and degradation. Adsorptiondesorption are a dynamic process in which molecules are continually transferred between the bulk liquid and solid surface. Adsorptiondesorption of pesticides in soils depend upon various factors like soil pH, CEC, clay content, organic matter and metal oxides. T...

Analysis of physicochemical properties for treatment of dredged deposit soil

This study was conducted to analyze the properties of deposit soil dredged from a reservoir which was processed for efficient treatment and management. Before starting this study, the physicochemical properties and the heavy metal content of the deposit soil were investigated to collect the fundamental data. In a treatment experiment proposed to use the deposit soil, the deposit soli was separa...

Influence of humic acid applications on soil physicochemical properties

7 Soil structure is often said to be the key to soil productivity since a fertile soil, with desirable 8 soil structure and adequate moisture supply, constitutes a productive soil. Soil structure 9 influences soil water movement and retention, erosion, crusting, nutrient recycling, root 10 penetration and crop yield. The objective of this work is to study, humic acid (HA) 11 application on some...
