چکیده مقاله:

Scape bending disorder is the most important factor affecting postharvest loss of gerbera cut flowers. One of the ultimate reasons for gerbera stem bending is lignin, with deformation structural functions and defensive mechanisms. This postharvest experiment was conducted to evaluate the role of phenylalanine ammonia lyase (PAL) and peroxidase (POD) enzymes activity in stem bending of two gerbera cultivars; (‘Beaudine’ (sensitive)) and (‘Aqua’(resistant)). This experiment was based on a completely randomized design with three replications over eight days. Results showed the significant effects of cultivar on stem bending percentage, total phenol content, PAL and POD enzyme activities and lignin content (P

Functional role of peroxidase gene in the resistance of the cut gerbera flower (Gerbera jamesonii) to stem bending disorder

Peroxidase is one of the most important genes in the lignin biosynthesis pathway. Polymerization of the phenolic derivatives into lignin, a connection between cell wall polymers such as monolignules, consequently, cell wall strength are the main functions of this enzyme. Accordingly, endogenous POD gene was isolated and cloned into gateway expression vector (PK7WG2) containing CAMV 35S promoter...

Effect of Antibiotics and Essential Oils on Postharvest Life and Quality Characteristics of Chrysanthemum Cut Flower

Chrysanthemum cut flower is not sensitive to ethylene and its vase life depends on vascular blockage. In order to evaluating of effect of antibiotics and essential oils on the vase life and quality characteristics of chrysanthemum cut flower an experiment carried out based on a RCD with 10 treatments: Artemisia at 3 levels (10, 30 and 50 %), amoxicillin at 3 levels (100, 200 and 300 mg l-1), Ri...

Effects of 1-MCP and Ethylene on Antioxidant Enzymes Activity and Postharvest Physio-Biochemical Characteristics of Cut Carnation Flower cv. ‘Fortune’

Carnation (Dianthus caryophyllus L.) is one of the most important cut flowers in the world. Themajority of thecarnation cultivars are sensitive to ethylene which affected the physiological and biochemical postharvest characteristics of these flowers.Applying inhibitors of biosynthesis and action of ethylene is important factor to protect the display quality and extend postharvest life. In order...

Effect of Nitric Oxide on Postharvest Quality and Vase Life of Cut Carnation Flower

Nitric oxide (NO) is a highly reactive signaling molecule and plays a variety of physiological roles in plants. The research on the application of NO to postharvest preservation of flowers and fruits shows great promise in recent years. However, the physiological mechanism of exogenous NO to affect cut flowers is not very clear, and NO donor treatment protected plants from damage by increasing ...

effect of postharvest pulse treatment of salicylic acid on phenylalanine ammonia-lyase activity (pal), lignin formation and stem bending disorder of gerbera cut flowers

the most important postharvest disorder of cut gerbera is stem bending disorder, which occurs below the capitulum. stem strength and lignification is one of important phenomenon and causes of gerbera stem bending. therefore, this experiment was conducted to evaluate the effects of salicylic acid (sa) on phenylalanine ammonia-lyase enzyme activity (pal), as an important enzyme in phenylpropanoid...
