Predicting intermittent explosive disorder on the Basis of aggression, negative emergency and alexithymia

Introduction: The purpose of this study was to predicting intermittent explosive disorder on the basis of aggression, negative emergency and alexithymia. Method: This research was a correctional descriptive study. The statistical population of this research includes all Prisoners of the central prison of Rasht city are in 2017. The sample consisted of 350 prisoners that were 175 people with intermittent explosive disorder and 175 people without intermittent explosive disorder and chosen by convenience sampling method. Data were collected using the intermittent explosive disorder questionnaire Coccaro et al (2017), impulsive behavior scale Lynam et al (2006), aggression questionnaire Williams et al (1996) and alexithymia questionnaire Bagby et al (1994). Results: The results of discriminant analysis showed that the average scores of the aggression, negative emergency and alexithymia are the best predictors that could discriminate the prisoners with and without intermittent explosive disorder from each other and these variables place 75.5 percent of cases correctly in groups. Conclusion: According to predictability aggression, negative emergency and alexithymia for without intermittent explosive disorder in prisoners, this finding has important implications for pathology of intermittent explosive disorder.
