چکیده مقاله:

Background & Objective: There are many common infections and inflammations among people over the world. This demands an affordable and reliable test with high sensitivity/specificity to predict or confirm the diagnosis of such cases in routinely clinical practice. In the present study, we aimed to find any potential correlation between serum levels of GGT and CRP- Q and/or hs- CRP and WBC count as the well- known markers of inflammation in human body. Materials and Methods: Through a cross- sectional study, serum levels of CRP-Q, hs- CRP, and GGT, in addition to WBC count were measured in 1,500 healthy people, referred to Blood Transfusion Organization from across the country. Data were analyzed after the patients were checked by physical examination for ruling out the presence of any inflammation or other illness. Serum levels of GGT, CRP- Q, hs- CRP, and WBC count were analyzed by SPSS for windows version 16. Results: Analysis showed a positive linear correlation between CRP- Q and hs- CRP with GGT also confirmed by non- parametric tests. Conclusion: Serum GGT may be an inflammatory index and a useful marker in approaching to inflammatory diseases.

What Do Very Low Plasma Concentrations of High-sensitivity C-reactive Protein (hs-CRP) Mean among Healthy Middle-aged Koreans?

BACKGROUND Systemic low-grade inflammation (SLGI), as assessed by measurements of high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP), is a strong independent risk factor for cardiovascular diseases (CVD). Although individuals with hs-CRP ≤ 1 mg/L have been defined as being at low risk according to AHA/CDC guidelines, the value of very low hs-CRP levels (<0.5 mg/L) for public health practices is uncle...

A cross-sectional study on serum high-sensitivity C-reactive protein level and shift work among reproductive age women

Background: Among the inflammatory factors, high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP) is one of the strongest predictors of cardiovascular disease. This study aimed to evaluate the relationship of serum hs-CRP level with shift work among reproductive age women. Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted from September 2017 to May 2018 in three cities in Mazandaran Province, North of ...

Comparative analysis of Bayer wide-range C-reactive protein (wr-CRP) and the Dade-Behring high sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP) in patients with inflammatory bowel disease.

OBJECTIVE The recently introduced Bayerwide-range C-reactive protein (wr-CRP) assay might be relevant for the real-time low-cost and online determination of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) activity. Our aim was to examine whether wr-CRP can substitute for the Dade Behring high sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP) assay in IBD patients. METHODS A total of 71 patients with IBD, of whom 48 h...

Evaluation of High-Sensitivity C-Reactive Protein in Acute Asthma

BACKGROUND High sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP) is an inflammatory marker known to be related to inflammation, infection, and cardiovascular diseases. The aim of this study was to evaluate hs-CRP level in serum of asthmatics and its relationship with pulmonary function tests, serum IgE levels, and peripheral blood white blood cell (WBC) counts. MATERIALS AND METHODS The under study su...
