چکیده مقاله:

Background and Objective: In this research, the effect of chronic dietary soybean aqueous extract on aortic reactivity of streptozotocin (STZ)-diabetic rats was investigated. Materials and Methods: STZ-diabetic rats were treated with soybean aqueous extract for two months after diabetes induction. Contractile reactivity to KCl and phenylephrine (PE) and relaxation response to acetylcholine (ACh) were obtained from aortic rings and involved mechanisms were investigated. Results: Maximum contractile response of endothelium-intact rings to PE was significantly lower in soybean extract-treated diabetics relative to control diabetics (pConclusion: Chronic dietary treatment with soybean extract of diabetic rats attenuated some abnormal changes in vascular reactivity in diabetic rats through nitric oxide and attenuation of oxidative stress in aortic tissue.

Soybean feeding improves vascular dysfunction and atte- nuates oxidative stress in streptozotocin-diabetic rats

Background and Objective: The effect of chronic dietary soybean (Glycine max L.) on aortic reactivity of streptozotocin (STZ)-diabetic rats was studied. Materials and Methods: Male diabetic rats received soybean for 7 weeks 1 week after diabetes induction at weight ratios of 3 and 6%. Contractile responses to KCl and phenylephrine (PE) and relaxation response to acetylcholine (ACh) were obtaine...

Troxerutin, a bioflavonoid, improves oxidative stress in blood of streptozotocin-induced type-1 diabetic rats

Type 1 diabetes is a chronic disease characterized by the body's inability to produce insulin due to destruction of the beta cells. There is increasing evidence that reactive oxygen species (ROS) play a major role in the development of diabetic complications. The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of troxerutin administration on oxidative stress markers in blood of STZ-induced ...

Chronic Rumex Patientia Seed Feeding Improves Passive Avoidance Learning and Memory in Streptozotocin-Diabetic Rats

A B S T R A C T Introduction: Diabetes mellitus is accompanied with disturbances in learning, memory, and cognitive skills in the human society and experimental animals. Due to anti-diabetic and antioxidant activity of Rumex patientia (RP), this research study was conducted to evaluate the efficacy of chronic Rumex patientia feeding on alleviation of learning and memory disturbance in streptozo...

Aqueous extract of Berberis integerrima root improves renal dysfunction in streptozotocin induced diabetic rats

Objective: Barberry root extract contains various alkaloids that are considered as antioxidants. Beneficial effect of aqueous extract of Berberis integerrima root (AEBIR) was evaluated for renal function in diabetic rats induced by STZ. Material and Methods: Diabetes was induced by i.p. injection of streptozotocin (65 mg/kg bw) to rats, after 15 h of fasting. Diabetic rats were randomly grouped...

Activation of κ-opioid receptor by U50,488H improves vascular dysfunction in streptozotocin-induced diabetic rats

BACKGROUND Evidence suggests that activation of κ-opioid receptor (KOR) by U50,488H exhibits potential cardiovascular protective properties. However, the effects of U50,488H on vascular dysfunction in diabetes mellitus (DM) are still not clear. The present study was designed to investigate the effects of U50,488H on vascular dysfunction in diabetic rats and explore the underlying mechanisms inv...
