چکیده مقاله:

Serum Vitamin A, total protein, serum electrophoresis, were determined in pediatric patients with urolithiasis (mostly bladder stones) and compared to that of normal healthy volunteers. The level of Vitamin A in healthy volunteers was found to be significantly (P<0.001) higher than that of patients with urolithiasis. The amount of total serum protein, however, was not significantly different in two groups, whereas, the serum albumin fraction was significantly lower in patients.  The chemical analysis of the stones revealed that they are mostly composed of urate or a mixture of urate and oxalate while similar reports confirm the fact that most of the bladder stones are composed of oxalates.  Whether the difference is due to dietary habits is uncertain.

simulation and experimental studies for prediction mineral scale formation in oil field during mixing of injection and formation water

abstract: mineral scaling in oil and gas production equipment is one of the most important problem that occurs while water injection and it has been recognized to be a major operational problem. the incompatibility between injected and formation waters may result in inorganic scale precipitation in the equipment and reservoir and then reduction of oil production rate and water injection rate. ...

postnatal studies of bats (pipistrellus kuhlii and miniopterus schreibersii) & histomorphology and histochemistry studies of organs and diseases of (neurergus microspilotus and n. kaiseri)

1. to determine whether difference in birth body mass influenced growth performance in pipistrellus kuhlii we studied a total of 12 captive-born neonates. bats were assigned to two body mass groups: light birth body mass (lbw: 0.89 ± 0.05, n=8) and heavy birth body mass (hbw: 1.35 ± 0.08, n=4). heavier body mass at birth was associated with rapid postnatal growth (body mass and forearm length) ...

Adsorption of Vitamin C on a Fullerene Surface: DFT Studies

Density functional theory (DFT) calculations were performed to investigate adsorptions of vitamin C (Vit) on the surface a fullerene structure (Ful) in gaseous and water–solvated systems. Two models of Vit including OVit and MVit were created based on the original structure of Vit for OVit and methylation of all hydroxyl groups for MVit. All singular and hybrid structures were optimized and the...

Vitamin D deficiency and stroke

Vitamin D comprises a group of fat-soluble pro-hormones, obtained from sun exposure, food, and supplements, and it must undergo two hydroxylation reactions to be activated in the body. Several studies have shown the role of vitamin D in mineral metabolism regulation, especially calcium, phosphorus, and bone metabolism. Some factors such as inadequate vitamin intake and liver or kidney disorders...

Bladder Stones in Rabbits

It is still unclear as to the exact mechanisms that lead to bladder stones or a similar condition called hypercalcinuria in the rabbit. Hypercalcinuria is a high calcium content of the urine where large stones do not form, but rather there is an abundance of smaller crystals that cause the urine to be thick, white and difficult to pass. This condition is often referred to as bladder sludge. It ...
