Systematics and Biostratigraphy of Foraminifera in Albian to Lower Cenomanian Deposits at Kerch Section (Southwest Qayen)

چکیده مقاله:

In this research systematics and biostratigraphy of the Cretaceous deposits foraminifera in Kerch section, southwestern Qayen, in the eastern margin of the Lut Block, were studied in detail. This section with 260 meters thickness, mainly formed by gray to cream color marl and shale, marly limestone and limestone laid on a light-colored limestone bed at the base. Seventeen genera and twenty two species from benthic and planktonic foraminifera were recognized. Four biozones including Microhedbergella rischi Interval Zone, Ticinella praeticinensis Interval Zone, Ticinella raynaudi Interval Zone, Lenticulina subangulata -Lenticulina macrodisca assemblage zone were also determined. Based on identified foraminifera an Albian to Early Cenomanian age is suggested for the Kerch section.

in order to study the biostratigraphy and paleoecology of the early miocene in south west of kerman province, one section (gefriz) has been chosen, measured and sampled. the thickness of measured section is about 67 m. it consists mainly of thin to thick bedded limestone and marl. at this section, the early miocene deposits nonconformably lie between volcano sedimentary eocene at the base, and ...

Biostratigraphy of the Gurpi Formation in Sepidan section, Interior Fars basin based on planktonic foraminifera

In this study biostratigraphy of the Upper Cretaceous deposits (Gurpi Formation) in Sepidan section located in the Interior Fars basin (SW Iran) was studied. The Gurpi Formation in this section consists of 360 m lime shale, argillaceous limestone and shale laid continuously on the Ilam Formation and with a paraconformity under the Pabdeh Formation. Nine genera and 27 species of planktonic foram...

Sequence stratigraphy and depositional environment of the Oligocene deposits at Firozabad section, southwest of Iran based on microfacies analysis

The Asmari Formation was deposited in the foreland basin of southwest Iran (Zagros Basin). Carbonate sequences of the Asmari Formation consist mainly of large benthic foraminifera along with other skeletal and non-skeletal components. Three assemblage zones have been recognized by distribution of these large foraminifera in the study area that indicate Oligocene age (Rupelian-Chattian). Absence...

Early angiosperm ecology: evidence from the Albian-Cenomanian of Europe.

BACKGROUND AND AIMS The mid-Cretaceous is a period of sudden turnover from gymnosperm to angiosperm-dominated floras. The aim was to investigate the fossil plant ecology in order to follow the spread of angiosperm taxa. METHODS Floristic lists and localities from the latest Albian-Cenomanian of Europe are analysed with Wagner's Parsimony Method, a clustering method currently used in phylogeny...

calcareous nannofossils biostratigraphy and paleoecology of the last layers related to eastern alborz cretaceous deposits in cheshmeh gholghol section

coccolithophores are important primary producers in the modern world ocean and were almost certainly important in the mesozoic oceans, prior to the evolution and rise of diatoms in the phytoplankton. calcareous nannofossils are abundant, planktonic, rapidly evolving and largely cosmopolitan, so they are a good tool for biostratigraphy and paleoecology studies especially in the cretaceous system...
