چکیده مقاله:

Objective(s): This study aimed to investigate the effect of zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnO-np) on biofilm formation and expression of the flu gene in uropathogenic Escherichia coli (UPEC) strains. Materials and Methods: Minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) of ZnO-np was determined by agar dilution method. The effect of MIC and sub-MIC concentrations of ZnO-np on biofilm formation were determined by microtiter plate assay. The expression level of the flu gene was assessed by Real-Time PCR assay. Results: MIC and sub-MIC ZnO-np concentrations reduced biofilm formation by 50% and 33.4%, respectively. Sub-MIC ZnO-np concentration significantly reduced the flu gene expression in the UPEC isolates (P

Impact of Various Environmental and Growth Conditions on Antigen 43 Gene Expression and Biofilm Formation by Uropathogenic Echserchia coli

ABSTRACT         Background and Objectives: Biofilm is a population of bacteria growing on a surface and enclosed in an exopolysaccharides matrix, which increases resistance to antimicrobial agents and immune response. Uropathogenic Escherichia coli (UPEC) are biofilm-forming bacteria and the most common cause of urinary tract infections (UTIs). This study ev...

Fimbriae of Uropathogenic Escherichia coli Mediate Biofilm Formation

Uropathogenic Escherichia coli (UPEC) is the primary cause of urinary tract infection (UTI) in the developed world. The major factors associated with virulence of UPEC are fimbrial adhesins, which mediate attachment to specific receptors, enhance persistence and trigger innate host responses. UPEC produce a range of fimbrial adhesins, with type 1 and P fimbriae of the chaperone-usher subclass b...

The Ability of Cellulose Polysaccharide and Curli Pili Production in Uropathogenic Escherichia Coli and its Association with Biofilm Formation Intensity

Abstract        Background and Objective: the Formation of urinary infection by uropathogenic E.coli needs   numerous virulence factors and biofilm formation is among these factors. Bacteria that form biofilms express phenotype traits that appear according to the bacteria type. Cellulose is an important compound on the outside of E.coli causing bacte...

The ability of uropathogenic Escherichia coli isolates in biofilm formation on urinary catheter and association with bcsA and draE genes

The product biofilm by E.coli strain can cause serious problem for human health. Catheter is considered to be s suitable place for colonization of microorganisms, so that in %5-10 of patients who used catheter for only one day and also in all patients who used it for over 28 days, this colonization of bacteria is observed on catheter. This study is come out in order to compare biofilm formation...

Pleiotropic Roles of uvrY on Biofilm Formation, Motility and Virulence in Uropathogenic Escherichia coli CFT073

Urinary tract infections primarily caused by uropathogenic strains of Escherichia coli (E. coli) remain a significant public health problem in both developed and developing countries. An important virulence determinant in uropathogenesis is biofilm formation which requires expression of fimbriae, flagella, and other surface components such as lipopolysaccharides. In this study, we explored the ...
